This exact same thing just happened to me. I purchased the FX8 about two weeks ago. I was vacationing in the Florida keys over christmas and went to take a picture only to see my screen cracked and it won't turn on. I knew I hadn't dropped it or anything.
I just tried to return it to Circuit city where I bought it and they basically told me too bad and gave me Panasonic's number. Panasonic of course doesn't cover this either! So now i'm stuck with a $300 camera that I can't use!
