My initial reaction was that this is a truly beautiful image. And it is. However, after reading Matt's critique I am inclined to agree and would offer that if the position of the camera were to be shifted left so as to prevent us from seeing the window frame it might preserve the illusion.
Regardless, this is something I could not have produced and think it quite well done.

that a picture on the front page grabs my attention and forces me - not invites me, but forces me - to come take a look. This one did. Extremely compelling.
Your photo doesn't so much tell a story as it begs one to imagine one, then throw that one away and imagine another. Repeat.
Well done.

I would only ask that this be larger. A wonderful high key piece. Really wonderful.
(Though I'm not sure it will be recognized as such. ;) )

A street shot from Bozen. One of many memorable building facades in a quiet town in
northern Itay.

This is the same photo as in http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=5047521 but
with some lightening done. I use a Mac, and while I'm confident my monitor is properly
adjusted, photo.net deletes the profile on images that are uploaded. That makes color
management a crap shoot. In any case, I'm really interested in people's thoughts - on this
one, on this one versus the other, whatever.
And I have to say I was a bit perplexed by the ratings on the other. If you happen to know
of a better picture of this unique place, I'd like to have a link. Or perhaps a better way to
put it is, if you rate this piece as average or below, please consider explaining why - since
the idea is to provide feedback and useful critique. Thanks.

Larger view is needed, since the colors get abused by the smaller version

Just got back from a work/photography trip to Kyoto - one of the places that I will never
tire of visiting.
I'm always interested in getting feedback, thoughts, suggestions, etc.

One of the more popular places in tourist season here in Washington is the Vietnam
Veterans Memorial. That gash on the Mall is a true metaphor for the conflict that should
have taught us the fallacy of warfare where the general population believes us to be the
enemy.
When it was created, some congressman felt he needed to add something to the memorial
in order to bring the message down to the lowest common denominator - subtlety often
being lost on the masses.
Here is the thing. I shot this - in part - because the true memorial is *so crowded* that
finding good angles was problematic. These soldiers however, while not ignored, get a
few moments contemplation from most, the occasional family or group shot, but for the
most part are an afterthought.
It would seem that the masses understand things a lot better than the congressman.
What else is new.
*Note* I use unsymmetric borders for effect quite often. I'm as interested in your
thoughts on that as much as on the photo. Thanks.

Shot on a sunny afternoon in July in an effort to counter the several million "tourist"
snapshots that are taken in our shrine to the country's greatest president.
I hope you like. Thanks for taking a look.

Just curious how much titles matter.

One of my favorite images. Perhaps because of how it was made or perhaps just because.
Anyway, I like it and hope you do too.

I love the murals of Philadelphia. Combined with the old bridges
across the Schuylkill River and you have a winner in my view.
I'd like to hear thoughts of others though as that is how we get better.
Thanks!

Its what on the inside that matters, right?

Wonderful portrait of an adorable little one. I love the sharpness of the hair and the overall tonal quality. If I could add a critical thought, I'd want a slight increase in contrast on her face. I looks a bit flat for my taste. Perhaps a little less fill light on the left (her right) side. Overall, a great shot.

I hope you like it, but I'm mainly interested in your thoughts good or bad.

Taken at the Clinton Presidential Center last summer.
One of my favorite conceptual pieces.

The facade of the Art Institute of Philadelphia. Shot in mid afternoon, the challenge being
how to deal with the reflections off the glass building across the street.
Intended as a mood piece and my question is whether or not this works for you.
Thanks for any comments, especially critiques.

John - When I posted this at my former home on the internet, I got a few comments along the same lines, so you are not alone in that thought. That's why I included the mention of its intentional inclusion in the description. Perhaps, I should take this comment to heart...that regardless of my intent, it is distracting to some.
Thanks for the comment!

A favorite of mine, and of those who have looked at my work in the past.
This particular photo has a very strong blue that will NOT look right unless you are using a
browser that reads profiles and uses them.

This shot was hand held, at 1.3 seconds, hence the slight wiggle of the non moving parts.
The part at lower right is another ride and its inclusion is intentional.
I like this photo a lot, but I'm also interested in what folks around here think.

and wow, I'm glad I did.
Nice work. Simple, effective.
