Has any one ever seen a Zeiss Contarex 21mm f/4.5 converted to an M-mount?
Has anyone ever had such a conversion done or who might do it?
I have a perfect condition one as part of my old Contarex systems and would like to use it. I know it wouldn't be
coupled but it had to be used with MLU on the 'Rex and took amazing sharp pictures.

I have a Zeiss 250mm f/4.0 Sonnar in the Contarex mount. It is a super sharp lens and should be a good canidate
for conversion to an EF mount since it's a manual pre-set stopdown.
The Conterex mount could just be removed and an EF mount added to the base.
What are some shops or techs who would take on this level of custom work?
One suggestion was S.K. Grimes or there others?

I was at an estate sale preview yesterday and saw two very strange LTM Sonnar lenses.
Leica Sonnar 1:1,5 f=5,8cm. Nr. 1407204. T (in red).
Sonnar 1:1,5 f=6 cm. Nr. 140717
I'm thinking they maybe forgeries from the USSR but not sure.
You can see pictures at.

I've found two version IV 35mm 'Crons both rate out about the same.
One is Canada 1982 production and the other is Germany 1994 production. there's
about a 500 dollar delta in the two lenses.
Which one should I look at getting? Is there a reason for a premium on the
German over the Canadian other than it's newer?

Thanks, I'll get in touch of Kevin. I've bought gear from him but didn't know he worked on things.

Mike at Camtecheast did the conversion.

I just got back a Canon 50/0.95 which was converted to an M-mount for use on my
R-D1. The person who did the conversion had a problem getting it set up due to
'problem with the R-D1's rangefinder."
I have tested the lens with both my new M8 and the R-D1 and it does front focus
badly.
Where can I find some one to get both the R-D1 and the Canon 0.95 to play together?

I'm very interested in doing the online study with Ben Lifson. Has anyone here
done this and how did it go? I'm interested in that he looks at photography as
part of art not technology.

Has anyone here used the X-Rite GretagMacbeth Eye-One (i1) Photo LT for both
monitor calibration and ICC profile creation for printers? With the 200 dollar
rebate it looks very attractive to me as a step up from just the Eye One Display
2 monitor calibrator and would let me do print profiles for my own papers.

Has anyone used Arches Aquarelle in the R1800? I don't have a profile for it
and am interesting in seeing if it would be worth getting one made.
Any suggestions on where to start with basic printer profiles in CS2 or any
public ones which work with it?

I'm back shooting MF and find I need to use a good spot meter. I'm looking at
the now discontinued Pentax Spotmeter but wonder which I should look for the
analog or digital and it's worth getting one with the System VI mods.
I need to know that your experiences have been.

This is dumb photographer trick day. On another the TPF board some one noted I had a 1280 paper profile. Earlier I had been doing some b&w on a a 1280 I set up with just MIS ink. when I came back to do color I never changed it and didn't notice it.
I'm running a test print now.

I have made a bit of a fetish about a well color calibrated work flow. Well
http://www.texasphotoforum.com/gallery/data/632/Foregroundfog.jpg" this image
just will not print on my R1800.
The foreground is a plugged black;' the gray fog is purple; the sky is blazing
orange.
I've tried converting the working profile from ProPhoto to Adobe RGB. Even
setting it to the Epson premium glossy, nada.
Here are my setting....

I'm looking at shooting 220 mainly B&W but some color and want to do my own
scans. That's out there under 3K worth looking at?

I've been using the Build in PS tools and CM and find them lacking and taking time I think can be better spent else where on the image.

Real Grain also just moved on to my short list as it has film stocks.
-
I'm trying to find for Photoshop a B&W plugin which is as good as the JFI
profiles for Capture One.
Are there any with curves and grain for film type or filter used where you just
pick and go?
Right now I have PhotoKIt's Analog Tools and Imagingfactory's Pro Convert to B&W
on a short list.
Suggestions, experiences wanted.

Got a copy Friday night and it is as good as everyone says.
Thanks for all the information....

I have been trying to apply the various techniques in Bruce Fraser's book on
sharpening.
I'm beginning to think I might be better off just buying Photokit Sharpener
rather than trying to roll my own.
How have you all here found Photokit Sharpener compared to trying to follow
Bruce's workflow?
-
From what I've seen I get a better reds in Capture One than ACR when I use the Magne Nilsen's C1 camera profiles also the JFI B&W profiles do very good B&W conversions better than I get in CS2 with channels.
-
I've resently gotten Capture One LE and find it not to be intuitive like CS2.
Nor does there seem to be any books on getting started with it. I've found a
short video tutorial on the Phase One Site and the down load of the help pages
but little else.
Any suggestions for resources would be welcome. It looks to be very powerful
particulary with several custom profiles I've gotten for the Canon 5D and for
B&W but I need some help in understanding it's flow better.

I'm like the OP. I don't care how you rate my work but leave a comment as to why you don't like it. The same for high ratings why did you like it?
I would like to see a rater be required to leave a critique before they could leave a rating.
Zeiss Contarex 21mm Biogon converted to M-mount?
in Leica and Rangefinders
Posted
But a 4/3 camera doesn't address the Leica M-mount and the maker (who I've been in touch with) has no plans for either an M-mount or an EOS mount.
On the Contarex 21mm setting the aperture is not an issue as it's not set by the body but is manually set on the lens. The same holds true for the 250mm f/4.0 Sonnar which is a manual preset not controlled by the body.
