1.
I just upgraded to a new 6D from a 40D. With the 6D i can not process RAW files using PS Element 10. When I try to open a RAW file in element 10 I get a message that it cannot open because it is the wrong type of file. I've never had a problem processing RAW images using Element 10 shot with the 40D. Can someone enlighten me on what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks

  2.
I’m just curious –What is to lowdown on Fumfie.com? I see Fumfie.com ads on Photo.net frequently offering products at ridiculously low prices. Are those offers legit?
Thanks

  3.
I truly appreciate all of your input. After contemplating it all I think I will put my purchase on hold for a while in order to purchase a 5D Mark III. Although moving to full frame is where I want to be I also want the best A/F I can get. So waiting 3-4 months for the Mark III will be worth it.
Thanks again

  4.
Need some thoughts----I’ve been shooting for many years now and my skill level has increased substantially over those years. The time has come to upgrade my primary camera (40D) and I really want to move up to full frame. The problem I have a limited budget—wanting to spend less than $1500. I am heavily invested in an array of Canon EF lenses so changing brands is out of the question (although I am very loyal to Canon anyway) I’ve been pondering 3 different models—2 used and one new and would like any comments from any Photo.Net members. The 2 used models are 1) 5D Mark II and 2) 1Ds Mark II—Both used are offered by B&H and run around $1200 The third and new option is a 6D that runs $1900—over my budget. I primarily shoot sports (mostly at night)—and also do some pet photography.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

  5. Is it me or what? I purchased one of these CF card new from B & H recently.

The first time I used it it failed. I lost several hundred shots. I didn't get

an error message but just a message that the card would not format in my Canon

40D--after I had been shooting for an hour or so. I got back with B & H and

they exchanged the bad card with a new one. Well, the new arrived yesterday

and I was out shooting this afternoon and the new card is doing the same thing.

Up until this card I've always used SanDisk card with no problems. Is anyone

else having this problem with Kingston CF cards?

  6. I have the same problem. Just bought a Kingston 8GB CF from B & H to use with my 40D. The first time I used it the sames thing happened. It will not format period. I have 5 other CF cards, all Sandisk and all work perfectly.
  7. I've done the forum search in photo.net and really haven't gotten the answer I

am looking for so don't rake me over the coals here. I have a fairly good

    arsenal of lenses--all Canon including a 70-200 L f/2.8, 300mm L f/4, 17-40mm L

    f/4, 100mm f/2.8 Macro and a 50mm f/1.8 EF II. I shoot with a 40D and have a

30D backup body. My primary walk around is the 50mm but I find it restrictive

when just out and about shooting general subjects--meaning nothing in

particular. I'd like to have the versatility of an intermediate zoom. I'd love

to purchase a Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 or 24-105 f/4 but my budget is about half of

what those babies run. I've used both and the IQ for either is incredible. I'm

looking for a lens in that focal range that offers good IQ and preferable a

fixed aperture for a walk around zoom in the $600 range. Also, I prefer to

purchase exclusively new and have no interest in a used lens from e-bay.

    Any recommendations?

  8. I shoot with a 30D and an XTi as a backup. My lenses include a Canon 17-40mm L

    f/4, a Canon 100mm macro and a 70-200mm L f/2.8 IS. My photo preference is

pretty wide open--landscapes, portraits, weddings etc. I'm looking for an

intermediate range zoom with a fixed apature-f/2.8 preferably. I prefer to use

Canon glass but there just isn't anything out there that fits this range. I've

only found 2--Sigma APO 50-150 f/2.8 EX and the Tokina AF 50-135mm f2.8.

Can anyone tell me about these lenses? IQ?

  9. Mike, I'm usually not compelled to throw out my opinion but shooting sports is one of my passions and I've been working on it for several years now. I want to reiterate that this is strictly my opinion and you know what they say about opinions so take them for whatever they are worth.

First, you've got a top notch lens and a fairly good body but the quality is in the glass mostly anyway. Moving to a Mark III may not be a good move right now until Canon gets the bugs out of the AF. Do your homework carefully before you make that jump. A 1D Mark II would be a better choice (my opinion) and a more reasonable jump. The 8 frames/second is a extreme advantage over the XTi's 3/second and the AF sensitivity of the 1D is a huge improvement. However, the XTi is still a very capable of getting it done. Also, I assume you are setting the AF in Al Servo mode--right?

Second, I personally think your expectations are too high if you expect perfect focus on every shot when shooting anything that is fast moving. I'll fill up several 8 GIG CF cards shooting one football or baseball game(RAW) and consider it successful if I come out with a couple of dozen sharp images--before PS.

  10. You can't go wrong with the Canon "L" EF 17-40mm f/4. There's a lot of bang for the buck with this lens. Image quality is great. True, there is some barrel distortion wide open but that won't matter much under normal shooting. The only downside is f/4 versus f/2.8. If you don't need or can't afford the extra stop my opinion is you can't beat it.
  11. I have a 350D and a 400D. I sometime shoot fast moving action and use the

sports mode. The results from the 350D I am usually satified with but I have

not been too impressed with the 400D. Even when I have both camera's on hand to

shoot the same event and interchange the same lense between the two camera's

the results from the 400D are alway much darker--very underexposed. Any

    thoughts?

    Thanks, Gary
