<p>Yes Bill, haven't used this site in years. Didn't even know I had a picture on here. That was prob a pic I did in Missouri for a friend. The reply I made can be any photographer, didn't think I said it was a barn in Missouri, but if you are really interested I did a series in Antarctica for six months. Sounds to me like you are a painter</p>

<p>Well if you say paintings take more time i have to disagree. I don't know many painters that have traveled 8,000 miles to hike another 10 over a mountain freezing to death to paint. They can just go into their warm and cozy room, turn on their favorite style of music and start painting mine or your picture they found in a magazine.</p>

Here is the argument I always seem too have with painters and sculptors about photography and art.<br>

They say that photographer use technical skills and a piece of mechanical equiptment (camera) to make a photograph and a painter and sculptor uses their hands. They don't argue the skill it takes or the time it might take, just the mechanical part.</p>

<p>When I am setting up my shot and making all the adjustments on my camera that I have envisioned in my mind I am a photographer. The end result is a piece of ART. For me the word ART means PASSION! Being in galleries and exhibitions over the years I have noticed that yes photography,unlike sculptures and paintings most of the time (not 100 percent but t least 90) is not considered art, and that burns me. I also love it when a customer says, WOW, I didn't know that was a photograph, thought it was a painting, or when they say, I never bought a photograph before and they end up buying their first one after years of buying paintings.<br>

That is ART to me</p>

Thanks for the tips.I know it isn't something a lot of photographers do,so i will have to experiment a little ,which isn't a bad thing.

I was hoping someone might have experience in this. I am going to be

doing some painting with light at night to get some cool

effects.Then keeping the camera in the same spot till sunrise ,I

want to take another exposure to get some highlights in the

background to bring my whole image together into perspective. Has

anyone done this or have any ideas. I am looking for an exposure

calculater or guide to put me in the right direction. Like would it

be better to take the first exposure at night ,then re ajust for the

second exposure or take my first exposure at sunset with some light

then wait till total darkness to do the second with the light

painting.
