Are you changing profile to sRGB to post on the web?
-
<p>I am just now getting my prints ready for my solo show - the opening is on Thursday.<br>
I am absolutely thrilled about Kodak Endura metallic paper and I use WHCC (www.whcc.com). I must say that this is digital art*, not so much photographs per say, but color vibrancy and saturation are crucial. On this paper, they are luminous, just like I seem them on my screen. I can't imagine having them printed on anything else.</p>
-
<p>I don't have an inside scoop, but I have the scanner and ordered it (after waiting, being out of stock etc.) from amazon at the very end of December.</p>
-
<p>Matt, at WHCC I learned the hard way that yes, you make the canvas (your image) 12x24 (just add white around your image) and then trim it.</p>
-
<p>Try WHCC. YOu would have to go with 12x24 and trim it.</p>

<p>Thank, Tony, I will check them out. I know nothing is really "archival" but 10 vs. 100 years is a diference...<br>
Thanks again,<br>

<p>I just had UPrinting do a piece - not really a photo, but that's not important. It came out really great on canvas. I want to have my artwork printed and sell, so it needs to be an archival print. They said they print with a "HP printers and they are UV protected pigment inks which makes the print water resistant and fade resistant. These are non-archival inks but will last around 10 years especially if placed indoors and are not exposed to sunlight." So they are not archival.<br>
Does anyone know who does print on canvas archival?<br>
Thanks!</p>

<p>Thanks, Paul! Well, I am a total newbie. I will probably do mostly scanning artwork and objects for my digital artwork and slowly get into scanning some slides and negatives. So I'll be on a lookout for tips!<br>
My scanner should be here Monday.</p>

<p>Thank you all for your response!<br>
Paul, after I read yours I checked Amazon and...voila, they have it :) So I ordered it (the Canon).</p>
<p>Happy New Year to all.</p>

<p>I really want the Canon 8800f - from what I've read it's a very good scanner, but it's been beck ordered forever now and I am getting impatient. How does the Epson compare?<br>
Thanks!</p>

I just got to it with firefox...

Thanks Don. I should also say she doesn't have a card reader....would that still be possible?
-
This just happened to my mom - she did a shoot last night and accidentally formatted the card (in the camera)
before she downloaded the pics (don't ask). Is it possible to recover them? Or is that only possible if you
delete the pics but not format the card?
Thanks for your help.

Thanks to all of you guys for your responses. I went to check out the 30" in the local store and decided I really liked it. So I did order it and will have my 17" as a second monitor. Now on to the color management dilemma....
-
Hi,
I am currently using Apple 15" (1024x768) and 17"(1280x1024). They are both about 4-5 years old. I will be buying
Mac Pro soon and this is my dilemma:
Should I get the 30" and have my old 17" as the second monitor OR should I get for same price as the 30" TWO 23"?
I use the second monitor for tools, internet bowser and e-mail. So is it too much of a luxury to have one 23" as
a primary and another 23" as the second monitor? I can't decide what would make me happier.
Thanks.

I believe the font in the first one is Scriptina.

Thanks guys for your replies.I should have stated in my original post that I am going to get a new computer no matter what. My G5 has other problems too and I don't know how to fix them, and it is time for upgrade.I still run 10.3.9 and don't want to upgrade the OS. So it's definitely new computer, question is what configurations would be good for me.
-
Hi,
I am currently using G5 1.8Ghz with 1 GB RAM and GeForce FX 5200, two displays
(15" and 17"). I frequently work with files up to 1 GB large and my poor G5 is
really grinding and sweating. Very slow. So I need to upgrade. I don't work
with animation, just Photoshop and Illustrator and Painter, but very large files!
Would this be good enough for me?
Two 2.66GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
4 GB RAM
2x NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 256MB
Apple Cinema Display 20" as the main display (will keep my old 17" as the second).
I need to make a decision pretty quick here, please help me. Thanks,
Jamila

I found the CS2 photomerge to be the worst, better was one that came with my camera, so
far the best for me is PTGui.

I didn't tell the publisher anything, originally I was going to be paid by our little church, but now it's the publisher, so that's different.
-
I did shots (candid - documentary) at a Sunday School. These will be
accompanying an article in the Christian Science Journal. They just called me
and want me to send them an invoice. I have no idea what to charge! They wanted
"many photos so that they can chose from them". They will probably chose more
than one. So how much should I charge per photo? I don't want to overcharge, but
not undercharge either.
Thank you so much!
Jamila
P.S. Originally I thought the church would pay me - I am their Sunday pianist so
they were going to pay me the music rate for that time and I agreed, but now it
turns out the publisher will pay, so I want to charge what would be appropriate.

When posting on the web, are you converting to sRGB?
-
I bought Photomatix, tried their Tone mapping, love it. Just now I tried to "Generate HDR" from a photo
I took with three different exposures. I load these images, check Align source images (they were taken
on a tripod, there was no movement, so I guess it shouldn't even be necessary) and use the Standard
repsonse curve as recommended. The result is a 100% black image. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for
any help. Jamila

Marc, do you have Photoshop 8 or 9? Go to File>Save for web and in Image size put down
the size you want and you can also specify how high quality jpeg you want. I do this daily,
post photos over 20 MB original, resize to 200Kb (or so, I am just making up the numbers,
approximately). never had a problem. Also make sure you are in sRGB, otherwise your
colors will look duller. Hope this helps.
