  1. John - What a photo! Everything comes together so well; the subjects, the vivid colors, the composition - they're all technical achievements in and of themselves. The added humor and the unspoiled joy of this photo places it into the realm of accomplishment. Congratulationss on this fantastic photo. I'm hard to please, but when I look at this photo, I'm pleased... and maybe a little jealous. :-)

Was it an accident that the only thing in focus (somewhat) is the subject's mouth? I hate to say it, but this image does very little for me. Perhaps by stopping down quite a bit and getting better depth-of-field, you'd have an interesting, unorthodox portrait. Unfortunatly, being what it is, all you have is something that kind of gives me a headache.

This has the makings of a very nice self-portrait, except that it's been too digitally manipulated for my tastes. Nice use of a large light source, but the noise and posterization effects you added on Photoshop (assuming this isn't a raw image, in which case, it's time to upgrade to a better digital camera) take away the lighting's glamour.
  2. What a wonderful photo! It's nice to see a photo.net submission that isn't too dark, too monochromatic, too boring, too unoriginal, too personal, too shadowy, too electronic-flashy, need I go on?? This is an outstanding image and made even a cynic like me smile! Nice work!

If you're developing this image yourself, I'd suggest a +2.5 or +3 monochromatic filter to up the contrast a few levels. Seems rather lifeless and monotone, but maybe it's just a bad scan. Your wife looks like she's a very patient woman.
