Tom I recieved the same email requesting five of my images. No problem with Nat. Geo. wanting to put my stuff on their stock site, I just wish they had included a little more info. for us. Like will we be able to add more images with a link given to us or they (nat geo) will only request an image from our gallery there? Will we be able to have a gallery and profile on the stock site etc.?
I also know of three other photographers they requested from as well. My guess is they are asking lots of folks now who participate in the "your shot" contest.

Thanks again for your advice and experience.

Thank you so much for the fantastic advice and it looks like I will have to do a full chemical assault though...whatever it takes I guess!

Thank you Tony. Should I look for a particular brand name or is "permethrin" the brand name and where is the best place to buy it?

I was horrified when I noticed several ticks crawling all over me while out shooting yesterday. Although tempted to run and scream I was so close to a beautiful hawk I didn’t want to leave so I just clicked and flicked. Ticks are always a hazard when shooting out in nature but I try not to use any repellant for fear of it getting on my lenses. Anyway with them (ticks) being so bad this season what is the best repellant you guys would recommend?

Hi Alfredo ok say one is emulating (not talking about me) what they offer, then what?

Hi Richard how does one know what photo editors need?

-

Hi Steve thanks for the response and actually I have done most of what you suggest. Except for facebook, I refuse to do that one! lol I do not know any professional wildlife and nature shooters and of course those would be folks to ask as well.

Hi Richard, yes being paid. I hope thats not laughter I hear in the background:)

I have been a shooting as a serious hobby for about four years. I have had fun, won cameras, camera gear etc. I mostly shoot wildlife since that is what I enjoy the most. Being a professional at this is something that I have thought about but figured I had a long way to go before this may or may not happen. Anyway this past week another image of mine was selected in National Geographic’s daily dozen. Out of the seven pics I have sent to them two have been picked and one published. Maybe I am better at this hobby than I think I am. Anyway I don’t know what to do if anything or where to begin to maybe try and do wildlife photography as a profession. Any advice?

The 180 might be too much if you are shooting close to the action all of the time. Of course it depends on what sport you are shooting as well.

Go with the D700. I shoot with a D300 but had the chance to use a D700 for a couple of weeks. The difference is huge.

Oh nevermind..now I see what you are talking about! lol..I need sleep, ignore me.

Its the windows of the building. I will put money on this one!! lol

-

Looks like the windows in the building..you can see them clearly when the lights are on inside but the rest going down dont have lights on inside so it looks like dark streaks. Do you see what I am talking about?

Hi CC, and yes that is exactly what I was asking about. Good information to know and thank you. So maybe a possibility for me to use these lenses in the future at some point.
