  1. There was no software. I bought as new, when it first came out. I just now checked the box it came in, to be certain. A handbook, no software. I did read that a firmware upgrade is available. That was some time ago, when they came out with the Epson P-4000. Go back to the Epson website and you'll find it there. You'll need a cardreader to install the update. I never had a cardreader until today, so I will be doing the same!
  2. I will add that the "70" (a 6MP camera), produces good quality 16x20 photographs. You already have the knowledge & capability in the use of Genunine Fractuals, which can come in handy for upsizing smaller files. I haven't used anything beyond PhotoShop's bicubic smoother to interpolate. Of course the files direct from the D2X are much bigger (10-20MP). I think everyone has a favorite formula to convert color to b&w using channel mixer in PS (some better than others), which just boils down to personal "taste". Good luck~
  3. Steve; Since you are already invested with Nikon lens, then check out the new "80". I have used the D70 and D2X, both with older lenses and have been very happy with the results. You can read side by side reviews and comfirm which digital cameras work with (MF, AF, AI)which lens at dpreview.com, outbackphoto.com, fredmiranda.com, nikonians.org... just to name a few (to get you started). Hope this helps. ~charlene harris
  4. The short answer... I've learned more here on PN, reading books & just going out and shooting everyday than I did taking the NYIP course. They are slow to respond to class submissions (via snail-mail). Slow as in 7 to 8 wks.! For me it was like taking a refresher course, not going into much detail at all. Submit something here (PN) and you'll get an immediate response! It would also help if you could attach yourself to a pro (become an intern). Good luck - spend your money wisely. Regards, d.d.
  5. Top quality lens! You can view some images taken with, in my portfolio. Check out the "My Garden" & "Tulips" folders. I'm sure others with contribute to you query regarding tips, although this question has been asked many times in this forum. Congrats on your new tool. Excellent choice, that will bring you satisfaction for many years to come. Regards, d.d.
  6. About downloading directly to computer, it can be done. Not that they will tell you so. They want you to email them from the phone in order to charge you. I did it once with a motorola phone and usb cord. Forgot how I did that! By calling the phone company not the utility company, I was able to get step by step directions. Good luck! d.d.
  7. Gloria, I am 'Native American'. Call myself an 'Indian', always have. Both GrandParents also Native American and have "maintained Tribal ties". I enjoy making photographs with a passion. Please email me if you think I can be of any assistance to you. d.d.
