1. I am writing to answer my own post. Shortly after I wrote the original post I managed to find a dealer who had a speed grip (mint), used prism finder and 120 back. My guardian angel must have been listening, or rather reading his e-mail :->.

Anyway, I rushed over to his place and after trying them out I bought it all. Now I just need to search for a wide and a tele photo lens. So it seems I won't be buying the SQ-A after all. Not for now anyway.

Thank you to all who wrote.

  2. I recently bought a bare-bone ETRS set with 75mm f2.8 MC lens (1979 version). The owner now wants to unload his SQ-A (with 120 back and waist level finder) with 80mm and 150mm lens. He just upgraded to a Hasselblad system. I do not know the condition of the equipment yet but I presume it is in reasonably good condition.

The reason I am now looking at the SQ-A is

    1. I do not need to flip the camera over for a vertical shot.

    2. The set already come with a 150mm lens.

    3. It is easier to find accessories and lenses for the SQ system in this part of the world.

Currently, I am having problem finding a used prism finder and used 150mm lens for the ETRS. They are quite rare here. If I am to buy them new the added cost to what I already paid for the body and standard lens would cost me about US$150 more than the SQ-A set. Is the set worth buying?

I do not know if the lens is the PS series or earlier. The owner is overseas right now and will only be back in 2 weeks. What is the designation of the lenses earlier than the PS range? How do they compare with the later PS lenses? I am going to use the 150mm lens for portraiture. By the way, what is the closest focusing distance for the 150mm lens?

    Thank you in advance.

  3. I know that if I want to set an exposure longer than 8 seconds I need to loosen a screw on the underside of my lens and push the tab to expose T. The problem is I have never owned a camera or lens that have a T settting on it; neither have I used a T setting before. Hence, I am pretty ignorant on how the the thing works. Can someone please enlighten me on the subject?

By the way, I own a ETRS body with a 75mm f2.8MC lens.

    Thank you.

  4. I just bought an ETRS fitted with only the waist level finder. It is difficult composing in the vertical frame (but not impossible) with this finder so I am looking at the prism finders. My questions are:

    1. I read that Bronica manufactures a prism finder with high eyepoint for the ETR series. Which one is this? This is important to me because I wear eyeglasses.

    2. I am thinking if I get a good deal on a used AEIII prism I might just take it up. Will all the functions work on my ETRS? I believe my ETRS is the earlier model released in 1979.

    Thank you for your time.

  5. I have read that if you put a polarising filter over a lens with focal length shorter than 28mm you will get uneven polarisation. I have actually seen and experienced that happening to me when I shoot with my 35mm SLR.

Now, my question is this. Will the same thing happen to me if I use a wide angle lens for medium format but has a focal length beyond 28mm?

I just bought an ETRS and is planning to expand my system by adding a wide angle and telephoto lens each to the 75mm f2.8MC lens I already own. I am looking at the 40mm which has an angle of view similar to 24mm in a 35mm camera.
