Sam that is a Strangler Fig that will eventually replace its host. It appears to be in the Big Cypress Swamp end of the Everglades. It looks like you were there during the dry season at full sun , otherwise that is a very lush tropical dark place.

This shot is very different then all the foliage shots I have seen and I am sure about to see. What makes it exceptional is you have taken something that has been shot a million times and made a new presentation. Great capture thanks for sharing.

Marina, this is an outstanding capture from any aspect. I would love to know more details about settings of the camera and lighting. You have listed the 100 - 400 but it looks more like a 500mm since the cat is not bothered by you. The contrast and color are also some of the best I've seen. I would love to know more detail. Thanks for sharing.
