  1. Ya- this is a very well composed image. you've captured one of nature's many majestic moments. it breaks the classic rule of thirds, and that's good. i like the way you've framed the image with foliage on the left and right. on my monitor (iMac i7 27"), the colors seems a little over saturated (too much vibrance)- especially the greens. other than that, this image is very well seen. kudos to you! - john

this is one of the most beautiful and creative and edgy and whimsical and sexy and artistic and balanced and technically perfect photos i have ever seen.

you vision, photographic acumen, and post processing skills culminate in an image i will not soon forget.

thank you for posting this brilliant image.

  2. Jeffrey- Love the composition, tonality, texture and lines in this image. You've really 'distilled' this image down to it's exquisite core. It looks like 'sandstone waves' moving across the frame. Tiny suggestion- crop a tiny sliver across the very top so as to remove the edge of sandstone that 'dips' into the frame in the upper right corner. To me, that is the only minuscule detail that distracts my eye.

Marc- What a visual feast you've prepared for us. I am especially intrigued with with the subdued foreground. I know I would have been temped to lighten it up and increase the contrast slightly..... but your decision to leave it slightly flat and muted and dark is a great choice. We are asked to explore the quiet, textural, and mesmerizing aspect of the image. The vibrant clouds looming overhead is icing on the cake. This is a tremendously powerful image that really draws in the viewer. Congratulations.

  3. Michelle- Love the contrast of emotions here. The skin tones are wonderful...... not that it matters. This image is so powerful that I almost don't see the color. The image has such a visceral impact that the skin tones and composition are things I notice only after my eyes slowly drift away from the the kiss and faces. (the skin tones and composition are perfect). I can here the shrill 'wail' of the baby- wow.  I am taken back to memories forgotten. There is nothing purer in the human race than an infant's unbridled emotions. This is a very powerful and tender image that speaks to me. Congratulations.

  4. Sonya- This image really grabbed my eye. I love the diagonal created with the rocks in the lower 2/3 of the frame. The composition is well balanced and there is a sense of harmony between all aspects of the image. It's a very nice landscape image. I have a few small observations. The rocks in the foreground are beautifully defined and colorful (especially with the wonderful smokey looking water swirling past them). I feel the saturation of the foreground does not match the mountains and sky. Perhaps the intensity of the pink hues in the clouds might be increased to balance with the intensity of the rocks? Or maybe pull back slightly on the saturation / vibrance of the rocks and stream to match the mountains and clouds? Just a thought. Congrats on a beautiful photograph!
