Norman Camera has the Nikon 85 1.8 in stock for $399.95. I just bought a Tokina 12-24 from them last week and it was the easiest online purchased that I've ever made. And, thery were $15.00 cheaper than either B&H, Adorama, or KEH. Here's the link: http://www.normancamera.com/product-exec/product_id/1478/nm/NIKON_85MM_F1_8D_AF_NIKKOR_LENS

Nikon Zooms
in Nikon
What is going on with the Nikon fast zooms? Nobody seems to have the 17-55, 17-
35, 28-70, or the 70-200 in stock? Is Nikon giving up on the higher end lenses
to concentrate on the hobbyist market?
-
The TC 1.4 E II will work with the 70-200 & 300mm lenses.
-
The Nikon 180mm f2.8 ED-IF would be a good choice.

Lens Choice
in Nikon
Since you will most likely be using a sturdy tripod, I would suggest the 300mm F4 AF-S and the TC14E-II teleconverter. I have this setup for my D200 and I love it. You only lose 1 stop using the converter, the AF is still quick, and there doesn't appear to be any discernible image degradation. -
Thanks for all of your advice. I'm going to order the TC-1.4 E II today.
-
I am considering the purchase of a Nikon teleconverter to use with my AF-S
Nikkor 300mm f4D IF-ED lens. Is there anywhere that I can find a comparison of
the performance of the three teleconverters that are available for the AF-S
lenses? I have heard that the 2x teleconverter produces soft images and that
the 1.7x and the 1.4x produce progressively sharper images. I have no idea
whether or not this is true as I have never seen any definitive proof. Any help
would be much appreciated.

Anil,
I have a brand new one. Email me if you're interested.

It's most likely the result of using the lens hood. The correct hood is the Nikon HR-1. Shoot a roll of film without the hood and check the results.

The prices that folks are paying on Ebay are getting to be ridiculous. FM3A's are regularly selling for in excess of $600.00 In fact, Cameta has a factory demo with a buy it now price of $949.95. and another seller has a brand new one with a buy it now price of $899.00. I saw a brand new black FM3A at D&D Cameras in Jackson, Wyoming a couple of weeks ago for $680.00.

Ziggy,
Thanks fellas for the help.
I called Adobe Support and they said that the Camera Raw Plug In only needed to be put in the Elements plug in folder. As soon as I put it in the correct folder, it worked like a charm.
-
Steven,
When I am in the standard edit mode in Elements 4.0, I click
File-->open. A window opens for me to select the folder where my image resides. Then I select the folder where the RAW image resides. I click on the image and make sure that "All Formats" is displayed in the "Files of Type" window. When I then click on "Open" that's when I get the error message. I should mention that my operating system is Windows XP.
I was under the impression that Elements 4.0 ould handle RAW images with no other plugins being necessary. Am I correct about that?
-
I tried to process some RAW files in Elements 4.0 that were taken with my
Nikon D200. I received an error message indicating that the file could not be
opened as it was an incorrect file type. In the Elements help section, there
are instructions for opening RAW files so I need some help in figuring out
what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks in advance for your input.

Eric,
Thanks for the link. I knew that there had to be something other than price to differentiate the F3HP from the Limited version. Would a NIB Limited be worth $2,000.00?
-
I just saw a Nikon F3HP Limited for sale. Can anyone tell me exactly what is
an F3HP Limited and what makes it different from a standard F3HP?
-
After buying my D200 in January, my F5 & F100 have seen absolutely no use as I find that when I want to shoot film, I grab my F3HP's. And, when I take the D200 out for a shoot, I take my wife's D70 along as a backup. As far as selling the F5 & F100, it probably isn't worth the effort with the prices dropping daily.
-
Shun,
The auction number is 7628019987. The starting price was $1,999.99 and it didn't sell.
-
Shun,
There is no IF!. I would be glad to give you the link so that you can see for yourself. Or, you can look up the closed auctions of Ebay seller jzfz.
-
There was one listed on Ebay with a starting bid of $2,000.00. It went unsold with no bids. It's not mine and I have no interest in it, but I do know the seller as I have bought from him a couple of times. If you are interested, send me an email and I'll give you the link to the closed auction as links to Ebay auctions cannot be posted here.
-
There is an ebarf seller that I have done business with that is very honest & reliable. His user ID is jzfz and he has about 20 of the batteries available.
-
Can someone tell me where the serial number is located on a Nikon F-100? I
must be blind because I cannot find it on my camera.
-
Mike,
I think that this is the thread you were looking for. http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00GhIE&tag=
By the way, I just ordered a Nikon 5000 from B&H.
-
My answer may be a little biased as I already have a D200 and absolutely love it. But, it would seem that your current lenses are sufficient. If it were me, I would get the D200.
-
Edward,
Thank you for the advice. I really appreciate it.
I already have a flatbed scanner but it's not very good. I think that I will invest in one of the Nikon film scanners. I'm retired and have plenty of time to learn how to make the most of its capabilities.
Update a Firmware for a gray Market Nikon D80 ?
