Thanks for all of the suggestions. What did the trick though, was to reset the camera's values. I was getting tired of having to delete multiple exposures.

I can't shut off my burst mode. When I press the burst mode button, my options
are fast, slow and infinity. But no way to shut it off so I can shoot (1) frame
at a time. Can someone please help.

Carlo, You should check your warranty. You just might end up with a brand, spanking new card.

I dropped off my D-70 at Nikon in Melville for repair. It had BGLOB.
Seven working days later I received a pickup card in the mail. They also up dated the firmware and cleaned the camera. There was no charge. I'm a happy camper.

Sounds like a dynamite idea, but I'm sure the camer manufactures have thought of it.

Great capture Anthony.

I noticed that some people whom I take flash pictures of end up with
their eyes closed in the finished print. I have a D70 and use the on
board flash. I would say that about 95 percent have their eyes closed
in about 90 percent of the pictures I take of them. Does anyone have
any suggestions.

I'm in need of a good P&S Digital camera. I basicly need it for a
general carry around camera. I have a D70 which serves me well, but
it's so big and heavy. So, if you were looking for the "best" p&s
camera, what would you choose. Thanks for your suggestions.

About five years ago, my wife and I took a trip to Las Vegas. while there I handed my wife my new p&s Nikon to take a picture of me. It was a middle priced camera. Well, you quessed it she dropped the camera onto a cement floor. After which the zoom wouldn't work. We were planning to drive to see see the Grand Canyon the next day. Now here I was with out a camera. It was like we were going there without a reason. All I had was my Sony Camcorder with me. I wish she had dropped it instead. Well when we returned home I walked the camera into the Nikon repair center in Melville. It was only about 1/2 hour drive from where I live. I handed the camera to the man behind the servive counter. He told me they charge a flat rate of $80 US For repair. Two weeks later I picked up my camera. They replaced the whole zoom lens which was damaged. 6 month later the zoom stopped working. I could hear the gears grinding when activated. The camera only came with a 3 month warrenty on the repair. I threw the camera out. Since then I bought a digital p&s Olympus which served me well. I recently bought a Nikon D70 which I love. So that's my story folks, but the moral is don't ever let your wife hold your cameras. LOL

So far most of the questions this morning have been very amusing.
What a great way to start off a Saturday morning, with a smile.

Thanks for your help. I don't know what I was thinking. VR would allow me to shoot at a slower speed and a smaller f/stop.
Thx Brendan

If a certain photo situation dictates a shutter priorty setting of
500 f/1.8. But the VR lens widest opening is 3.5. How would I take
advantage of the 3 or 4 stops more I have to work with because of the
VR? Does the lens compensate and adjust automatically? Thanks for
your reply.

Ron, take my advise and get a GOOD easy to use point & shoot camera which has stabilization built into the camera. If you have shaky hands you don't want to deal with changing lens. Especially since like you said, you are not familar with digital cameras. Choose a camera you feel comfortable holding in your hands. You don't need a macro lens to take close up family pictures. Any camera should do that. Do give your self time though to practice using the camera before your trip. Also always keep the camera strap around your neck in case it slips from your hands. Don't forget to show us your pictures when you return.

Now let me see if nI have this right.
1st I need a girlfriend.
2nd I have to convince her to accompany me to a cemetery during a full moon.
3rd Now I have to find a water faucet.
Yeah right!

Like they said paul, you would either a desktop or laptop computer. You would be able to take as many pictures as your card will hold or until the battery in your D-70 needs to be recharged. Taking time lapse pictures does seem interesting. Let us know if you were successful.

Hi guys,
After I bought my D70, I went to a local warehouse store and bought
Photoshop Elements 3. Although I am happy with the software, I wonder
if I should upgrade to a higher level. What do you guys use and why?
Thank you, Brendan

Thanks to all for you who gave me advise on buying used equipment on line. Buying before actually seeing in like going on a blind date. I do think though, I will give it a try.
Sincerely, Brendan S.

I have reservations about buying used lens online. I would think most
people are selling their lens because they are not happy with it.
Since they do not come with a warrenty, how do I know I am not buying
someone elses headache? What would be the best safe guard to protect
my hard earned cash? Thank you.

I recently purchased D-70 along with the kit lens. I love the camera
but this is my problem. I have shaky hands. Many of my pictures come
out blurred because of this. I can't always shoot at a faster speed
because of the limitations of the kit lens. Now my question is, would
I be better off buying a faster zoom lens or a VR zoom lens. Which
would better suite my needs. Thank you for your help.

I recently purchased a D-70 with the kit lens. I do have a problem
which is not with the camera but with me. I have a need for a VR
moderate zoom lens. The price for a Nikon VR lens is prohibitive. My
question is, could anyone recommend a decent VR moderate telephoto
zoom lens of some other brand which is affortable.
Thank you,

Hi cher, I think the D40 is an excellant and affordable SLR. If you did not handle the camera go to a camera store and handle it to make sure it is suitable for you. If it is differcult for you to change lenses I would suggest a 18-200 zoom with motion control. Nikon has their version and Sigma also has one which is much cheaper than Nikon's. Some say Sigma's 18-200 os zoom len is as good or better than Nikons 18-200 VR. The D40 plus the Sigma lens should fall close to your price range. Good luck in your search.
Kindest regards, Dan
