I have some family photos that were imported into Lightroom and now for some reason the preview images are very pixelated. When viewed at any sort of reasonable size, they look a bit like pointilism paintings. The original files are on a relative's portable drive that is not easily accessible. Is there any software solution that will restore these images or is there is some way to go back into the historical files of Lightroom and regain them (other than reconnecting the drive with the original files)? I have extracted jpg's from Lightroom using LRViewer, but they still have the same issue.

Edward, do you know if Lightroom allows you to do this? Thanks.

I have been told that software exists that allows you to convert low-res jpg's to high res. Has anyone used any of these programs?

In Lightroom, is there any way to export jpgs based on the previews if the original image files are missing? I imported some files which were then lost in a hard drive crash. Thanks for your help.

Nadine, I think you misread the name of the photographer who's work I asked about. It's Jamie Karlin (jamiekphotography.com), not Julie Harris. Any additional thoughts would be appreciated.

The people in this photographer's images have incredible "snap." Whether indoors or out, in color or black and white, they just leap off the page (screen). Does anyone think there something in her post-processing technique that gives the images their punch, or is it some shooting/light technique?

I need to make a slideshow of family photos, many of which were taken before we went digital. What is the best way to scan prints for this purpose? Can my local camera store do a good job? What questions should I ask? Any help will be greatly apppreciated.

Does anyone have a good, nationally available resource for creating a professional-looking web site.

So, then, more quality is not visible except in much larger prints? Is that a fair assessment of the reality of megapixel count?

I have been a long term Nikon user, first film and now digital. I have a D80 and have been thinking of upgrading to
the D700 for full-frame. However, I now see that the new 5D has a 21.1 megapixel sensor. My question is, will I see
a big difference in image quality in 8x10" prints with the 5D? Would it make sense to ditch all of my Nikon gear and
switch? Or, will Nikon play catch up? In which case I would just wait.
