    Smoke

          3

    Hi Steve,

I've used a neon lamp and a flash positioned at each (oposite) side, camera WB settings set to clouds. This gave me a nice blue color.

Then I used two gradient filters. One with orange (or smth like that) from up to bottom and the other one (purple) from bottom-up. In the middle I preserved the original color. Because both filters are translucent, this came out directly - no hand coloring in SW.

For myself, this is a second attempt taking pictures of smoke, the first one was, simply put - disaster. :)

You can find some nice tuts on youtube. Hope that helped, happy smoke hunting. :)

    Cheers!

  1. Hello,

I'm eager to take various kinds of photos as much as my spare time

permits. This is my first shot of the moon and frankly, I was amazed

how much the details can be seen where the shadow meets the highlights

    - I immediately went on the net to check how this "phenomena" is named

and I think it's called terminator.

With 100-400 lens fully extended, I still needed to crop quite a bit -

would really like to see the size with the 2x teleconverter - not to

    mention with a telescope. :)
