2.
I have read most of the blog post dealing with split screen and D800/E. For somr reason Nikon is not allowing the use of 3rd party focusing screen. OK I get that . Now if I purhcase a D800/E will I be able to use the Zeiss manual focus lenses effectivly. Knowing tha they will fit is one thing but will I beable to get a sharp focus out of them with out the split screen? IS anybody shooting with the D800/E and Zeiss lenses. Please limit the comments to the D800/E. I am not interested in any other camera. Thank you for your information.. Jerry

3. You did not mention volume. I own a 343 Imacon and a Epson 4990. The 343 is a better scanner but cost 10 times more. You also have to consider what out put and what you are going to do with the file. With the 343 you are limited to a 60x170 mm image. The 4990 you can scan a 8x10 chrome. IF you are going for the best output consider the 343. If you need a larger scan look at the Imacon 646. Generally you should be happy with the 4990. I downloaded a image scanned with the 343. Taken July 2005 All Star Weekend in Detroit.. Film 100 ASA Chrome Fuji. Hasselblad H1 50MM Lens
4. I prefer the 10AM to 2PM. This gives the opportunity of the direct light over head to bounce off the walls inside the canyon. The canyon is not that long 200 to 300 feet. If you are closterphobic be prepared. It can be a tight fit. It takes about 10 minutes to get to lower antelope from page. Upper Antelope is across the street from Lower Antelope. If there is a HINT of rain DO NOT GO. KEn YOung the owner will not allow you to enter the CAnyon. KEn KNOWS Lower Antelope. Great guy to have a conversation with he may give you some pointers inside the canyon. Take a tripod. Also metering can be tricky. You could easily have 5 or 6 stops different in the image the the difference could fool your meter.
5. I have been to horseshoe bend a few times. Directions can easily be had from anybody in PAge. But the big issue is how to shot it. It is not an easy shot. One of the big issues is a wide angle lens recommend at least a 24MM lens <35MM photograhy> <21 would be better> <28MM will not cover the complete shot> this will get the complete bend. Finding the center point is easy but a little nerve testing. I am not big in height and falloffs. The other issue is the tuffy. HOw to balance the light between the sky and the river bed. It could be at least a 3 stops different. The best is a graduated ND filter. Hope that this helps. When in PAge go to LOWER Antelope CAnyon. It is Well worth the trip. IT is best seen between 11AM and 2 PM
6. Leica is going bankrupt because they missed the boat. The rangefinder M6 and its predicessors ARE GREAT cameras. They were the inital choice or alternative choice toa SLR. There greatness has always been the glass. The M series was a means for the use of teh glass. The advent of the Autofocus changed the market for all photography. The volume buyers the photojournalist moved rom the M and R series to the autofocus Nikon and CAnon. They never returned to LEica. They went for the ease of the autofocus and the heck with the super quality glass. Leica never followed the market. They tried with the development of the R cameras but never hit the mark with the auto focus.

IF Leica wants to succeed they should get in bed with Canon or Nikon and make a premium glass for there cameras.I think it would sell like hot cakes. If people are willing to purchase the L canon lenses they would purhcase a Canon mounted LEica Lens even at 2 or 3 times the cost. everybody knows the lens glass is superior to the Japanese glass. Contrast and boke. Also the feel of the Leica lens is superior to the CAnon lenses. People will pay for the difference. Even if it is only 5 or 10% of the Canon market it would save Leica. LEica could contue the development of the M series and jettison the SLR. I have never read a resounding indorsment of the SLR Leica.

The new R9 Digital is a JOKE. What market are they trying to hit. Non Autofocus Film and Digital. That must be a huge market!!

7. DO it in your photography when you shot the image.IT sounds you are using a F8 F11 F16 F22 or F32 etc. These F stops will give a sharper focus throughout the image. Shoot at the lower end F2 F2.8 F3.5 F4 . If you want the subject to be sharp and the fore and/or background "blur" shoot at the lowest number on your lens. Subject sharp rest blurry. As for a softfocus filter that is used for soften the whole image. usally used in a "dreamy portrait" image. Though the whole subject is affected with the soft focus. The best in this group is the Zeiss Soft Focus Filter. Comes 1 2 or 3 strength
8. A rangefinder camera is BEST for

Street Photography and PEople Photgraphy. Architecture Value is ZERO. LAndscapte can be shot easily. But street and people is the SUPPER strengh.

I own a M6 TTL It is great, I do not need the M7 with the upgrades. Go with a M6 TTL.

I would receommend you start with one lens only . I prefer the Summilux 1.4 35 MM lens. It is GReat. I would then go for tthe 75mm or 90MM. Then go to he 24 or 21 mm lens. AS for a zoom they have the tri-elmar, Nice but go for the prime lenses.

9. I am going to Europe and will be shooting Churches Temples and other

religous institutions. I currently do not have "mobile" equipment I

am looking for some suggestions. I have come up with the following:

1 3000 WS Hensel Mono MAx 2 1500WS Mono MAx 1 750 WS MONO Max. This

would be with accompanying softbox's. I anticipate shooting

santuaries in the churhes and temples. Also

I plan on shooting small artifacts. Any other suggestions or saying

I am wacko is Ok.But before you say I am wacko give other

suggestions.

PS: Camera is Hasselblad H1

10. I own a 905SWC and I use it for landscape work. FOr the interior shots a camera with tilts swings rise and fall is MUCH better. I am not saying a 905 is chop liver but it really does not compare with a camera with movements. The greatness of the 905 is the Biogon lens design 90Degree angle and it is a rectalinear lens
