1.
Hi thanks for responses guys. It's cut into the shape which looks like other AIS lenses I own but it's got the silver bits without black paint, so it's obvious that it's been cut (unlike those on the aiconversion website)... I will take some pic tonight and post it. Thanks

  2.
Hi guys
I just bought a 28 f2 AI off ebay. The lens is in excellent+ condition which I really like. However, I noticed that the bottom of the lens seems to have been cut into a particular shape, which looks like the bottom of my other AI AIS lenses. You can see the silver bits rather than the black paint

Another issue is that the lens works well on my D3 and FM3A, but when I use it on my F6, it seems to touch my F6's mirror. So I compared with my other lenses, the F6 clears my other lenses and I just have issues with this lens. When I take out the lens, it doesn't seem that the mirror or the back of the lens (the black metal bit) have been scratched or anything, but it just has a sharp vibration. Do you know the reason?

Thanks for any input.

  3.
Anthony or others, could you please clarify whether the 201F works like a mechanical camera without the battery? I read somewhere that it does. I guess those 6V batteries are readily available anyway. Thanks again guys.

  4.
Thanks for the informative responses everyone. I will be extra careful with that shutter curtain and yes the deal is very tempting.
Let me know if you want to buy a good condition 500CM system ;-)

  5.
Thanks again Ken for the detailed response.
I am purchasing from a friend of mine and he will let me play with it for a while before i proceed which is reassuring. Thanks again and I will be careful with the curtains.

  6.
Hi guys, I already own a 500CM system with 50, 80 and 150 lenses.
Friend of mine is offering his 2000FC + 80 CFE lens for about $800USD to me. It got me thinking because I know that I can use some pretty cool lenses like 50 2.8 and 110 F2 on the 2000FC. But then I will have to spend about $1500USD to get these two lenses.
I am just wondering what are the different applications of these cameras. I know that the 2000FC has a focal plane shutter and goes as fast as 1/2000s. Does that mean the shutter will be louder? What are the benefits of the 2000FC over 500CM apart from the ability to use fast lenses like the two mentioned above?
Thanks in advance.

  7.
I am a pretty new owner of F100 (but have used Nikon DSLRs for quite a few years). I've done some searches which I can't find the answer. Can someone please advise me on the following scenario?

What happens when I take photos of a foreground subject (like a portrait) with the F100:

1. Focus on a subject
2. Recompose
3. Fire shutter
4. Focus lock releases and focuses on the background because I have recomposed

With the DSLR I have, it remains locked after the firing of shutter which saves time if I want to take a few shots continuously.

Is this an issue with the camera or is it able to be reset with customs fuctions?

Thanks in advance for any helps!

Zane

  8.
If you took a shot at night and it came out to be so black that you only see "few speckle of street lights", you could have taken the shot at a pretty fast shutter speed eg 1/60s, rather than 1sec, depending on your aperture I think.
Well, try to play around with diff shutter speed and listen closely to the sound of each speed. There should be a distinguishable difference in sound between 1s to 1/60s ... if it doesn't sound right, take the camera to a repairer. FM2 should be able to be used without battery at all speeds so it shouldn't be an electronic issue.
I hope this helps.

  9.
Hi guys
I am looking at getting a 6x17 camera which comes with a 90 F4.5 Nikkor lens. My problem is that this lens has a filter diameter of 82mm.
I love doing a lot of long exposure photos which require the use of a Hoya 9-stop ND400 filter and the only strong ND filter which has 82mm thread in the market are:
1/ Singh-Ray Vari-ND 82mm (2- 8 stops adjustable) - standard ring;
2/ Singh-Ray Mor-Slo 82mm (which is a 5 stop ND filter)

My questions are:
A/ Will these filters cause (hard edge) vignetting on the 90 F4.5 lens?
B/ I have heard reports of uneven exposure for wide angle shots with the Vari-ND?
Keen to hear your experience.
Thanks!
10.
Hi Ian, thanks for sharing them. Calcutta and Sikkim look like two very different places with very different ethnic people. One of them seems to be very 'Tibetan' in terms of its culture and the facial features of its people. Very interesting!

  11.
Hi guys
I am planning a trip to India (Jaipur, Jodphur, Pushkar to be more specific) and want to know if anyone has any recommendation of a travel photographer's website which I can use as a reference for my research and ... more importantly... inspiration :-)
Doesn't have to be a world famous photographer like Steve McCurry, but anyone who has travelled there and returned with good photos will be nice!
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Regards
12. Thanks for the responses people. I will take a look at the 40mm and other options suggested. Apart from cost, weight is also an issue. Adding a Pentax 67 is like adding another system to the camera bag and I also prefer the square format if possible

Maris... you got any photos with that setup?

    thanks again
