Metol and Sodium Sulphite - Why did it turn black?
eugen_mezei replied to enrico__'s topic in Black & White Practice
I wonder what instruction that is. Never heard about distilled water being forbidden for developer. -

Ron, do you know what adapter the 725/1 is? -
Unknown bulk film - what is it?

You will have to show us the edge markings. -
I tried to maximise the compensating effect to get non-burned highlights. So I did D23 1+3. Showed some result but not enough. So I did more or less stand development. No improvement. So the trick is in agitation? That is contraintuitive. What is the explanation?

I would like to see that apparatus. -
Can I use ascorbic acid instead of the ascorbate? I can get L-Ascorbic Acid fairly easy, it is sold pure in the drugstore.

Put an R1 bayonet lenshood on to it and most of the contrast problem is solved. If those are scratches, best is to fill them up with black paint.

Beg to differ. I doubt it would show in the pictures.

Wasn't there something with the cut in the darkslide of the casette? The ones for Pro don't have it but I dont remember what the effect was to cut them.

What is wrong in talking about a the same lens in a topic started some years earlier? Would be nice if the thread would not have been fucked up by the genius move of reorganising photo.net.

Where's my Kodak T-Max film?

Yepp, blame it to Putin. He is at fault for anything, why not for this too? -
The problem is, that you dont have to imagine that, we are already in that situation. It becomes infuriating, when these measures are based not on facts (scientific, statistical, whatever) but on populism. Populism: lead = bad. Reality: lead in glass = you dont lick it like an ice cone and even if, it will still be no harm to anybody or anything.

In my lifteime I survived at least 5 catastrophes the enviromentalists promised we all would die from. In the 80s acid rain dissolved me. It also killed the forests, I have to go out tomorrow and look for a tree.. wait, I see hundreds of thousands of acres of forest. Also I survived at least 3 big crisis of "in 10 years we will not have anymore of it". Hmm... I see we still have plenty of raw materials. Please name one demonstrably objective parameter where. Colors (show me the colors of Astia), ease of use, direct access with your own senses.

Jochen, it is true for any historical debate, but specially when talking about the GDR it is a must to specify the exact time period you are referring to. The GDR of the 50s is not the same as that of the 70s and also different from the 80s. In the 50s and 60s the cameras had a paper attached that forbid the buyer to export the camera. Following your reasoning with the box of film the price was subsitized. This was totally different in the 70-80s, but I very much doubt it, that a M42 Praktica with 50 mm, even if it was the Pancolar, did cost 500-750 DM. Could be your memory plays tricks on you and you are thinking about 500 East German Mark. It happens that I know "Vergrößern" but can not remember to have read about the silver problem, especially not about that being state property. It would be untipical for communist regimes, they usually had smarter formulations in laws. Like you had to sell the silver to state operated recycling plants. They tried to maintain the appearance of respect for the property of the citizen. That the price was fixed and made by them is true. Who did forbid you to export the box of film/paper?

Also APS. But at least it brought T-cristals. Can you give a source for this statement? Especially the second part. As Formula 1 racing cars are in wide use. They are faster than normal cars, right? It is not the best that is in wide use but the "it does the job good enough". Film is in my opinion still superior, but people are not willing to pay 100% more for 2% better. It is like with a good restaurant. You can fill your belly at McDonalds but the very thin "better" of the meal prepared by a good chef will cost you a multiple of your menue at the first place. You are from Germany, right?

Advice needed: Rolleiflex condition photos vs reality
eugen_mezei replied to mechs's topic in Medium Format
That may be. But for sure a lot wrong with your reading capabilites. I guess in the processing part. -
What you mean by vinyl covering? a. The plastic part of the wheel that winds the spring? (It is fixed with two little screws. One missing on mine, previous owner seems to have tinkered with it.) b. The covering of the camera. Also often named "leatherette".

Did you use TLRs before? If not, that would be the first concern. Hold on in your hands, don't get enthusiastic from internet hype. Me, e.g. can not befriend with TLRs. They are to high and woble in my palm. Whereas a brick SLR does not. -
Using equivalents is like learning a foreign language by translation. E.g. You are a native English speaker. In your head the word "table" is associated with the object. Now you can associate the word of the new language directyl to that wooden object or you can (as with equivalents) associate it with the english word. Which way will you learn the language better and feel it better. (Think about more complex situations than the one with table, I choosed it for it's simplicity.) Shoot your 135 format and learn to feel it by the results it produces. Shoot your other format and look also at what it produces, don't think on therm what it would produce on 135, as it simply will not. It is more to equivalents than focal lenght and angle of view. Angle of view changes, but the DOF will not change, but you would expect it will act as the category of lens (wide, normal, tele) in which it fall on the system you use it.

Which are actual (but not produced emulsions can also be mentioned) black and white emulsions coated in 120 format onto clear base? I intend to develop for projection.

The camera is still for sale, with the exact wrong description. Not lucky the chancer.

Mamiya RZ67 Pro II with Sinarback 54M?
eugen_mezei replied to henrik_holben's topic in Medium Format
The very same back discussed here can be used on the RB67 too, but needs another adapter.
