Technically, I like the subject, exposure,  choice of "color."  When I look at the picture, the highest contrast area, the name of the boat, catches my eye first and the lines of the hull carry my eyes out of the picture at the upper left corner.  Can't think a solution to this situation other than tonning down the boat name background.

The black by the dogs nose, the elbow, the forearm and top of their heads bring the viewer to their eyes, the heart of the picture. Wonderful capture. A great testimony to the gift dogs freely give to humans.

Wonderful! I don't know if it was intentional or your only option (due to camera, lens, wind etc.) but IMO the very limited area in sharp focus on the center and stem really bring out the beauty of the flower. More depth of field would shift the focus to the detail of the flower's form.

Great lighting and saturated colors. I assume you waited for the boat to be in center. IMO the boat and birds lead the eye out of the picture. Panning to the right would put the boat to the left would give the picture some action and lead the eye into the center where the birds would then be located. I don't know the quality of buildings to the right however.
  1. Great image. The silhoutte makes it more interesting. Some of the bottom could be cut off since the weight of it distracts from the dramatic lighting above. Try cropping at the top of the railing. Too bad the person does not have his head turned a little to the left looking at the elephant.
  2. I like this picture overall. Nicely cropped and great sky to contrast with the minute details of the building. It does need to be rotated about 1 deg to the left for a start. On my monitor it is too dark and contrasty. It can be brightened significantly without loosing the punch of the sky and building.
  3. Nice picture Don. The church is interesting and the tree shadow on the parking lot is interesting but you need to choose which you want us to look at. Crop off the bottom of the picture (maybe up to the base of the lefthand tree). You can also crop off most of the pine tree on the right.
  4. Using grass as borders is interesting but you end up with horizon in the middle which is generally less interesting because the viewer doesn't know if they should look up or down. Without clouds, the sky isn't interesting so I would lower the camera to get more foreground with the sky only 1/3rd of the top of the picture. The center valley leads the eye to the mountain top. The yellow bush is so strong that it holds the eye back from from the mountain peak. Maybe take the picture from the other side of the bush and be sure that infinity is in focus.
  5. I like the concept. The eye tends to look to lines of greatest contrast (in this case the heavy black upper and lower right corner against the flower's right edge). Cropping off about 20% of right side would bring focus to the body of the flower and its stamen. I know this will cut off part of a pedal but the stamen seems to be the point of most interest. A little more contrast in the flower would give the picture more life/snap/punch.
