Thank you so much for the suggestion. I agree that the shadow is a little much. All of these shots are candid so I didn't have a reflector. Hopefully, one of these days I will be able to set a shot like this up and have all of the essentials to make it better. Thanks again!!!!

    Mariachi

This is a Mariachi band at a wedding in Mexico. I did not use a flash and the sun was setting

fast. It is the only shot I got of them before it was too dark. Critiques welcome.

Thank you so much for the great compliments. If you knew the whole time I was taking the shot on my kitchen table with my 2 year old son trying to "clean" my tripod, it wouldn't be quite as impressive. I will post the color photo on Sunday. Thanks again!!!

This was done with my Canon digital Powershot camera. No lens. I just zoomed in using the digital zoom to 3.3 I think. I took it in color then just converted it to gray scale.

Thank you for your comments. He is fine and his new lip looks beautiful. But part of me misses the way his was before. It was a rough time, those couple of days of surgery. Regarding, the crop, I hate it too but not enough to put the picture away.

This another picture of my son the night before his cleft lip

surgery. I wanted to capture his sweet face before the doctor fixed

his lip. Again, I am an amateur and this was taken on my bed with a

white sheet as a back drop. No flash, with a Nikon N65 on 400 speed

color film. Then I had the lab print in B&W and scanned onto my

computer with an HP 6210 office jet. I did not enhance or make any

    changes when I scanned it.

I took this of my 6 month old son with my Canon digital camera, no

flash. I just used the light from a north facing window. It took

SEVERAL shots to get him still enough. I am definately an amateur,

having fun and learning the ropes as I go.
