Thank you, Mark and Mauro, for your thoughtful comments. I really appreciate them! Mauro - I thought about evening the vertical table line with the edge of the photo, but I decided I kind of like the slight tilt.

Those are gorgeous clouds, and this is a great capture. I'd like it if the light-colored objects at the bottom were cropped out. The amazing cloud architecture is so captivating that the manmade boats and buildings just kind of clutter up the image for me. On a side note, my dad has climbed this mountain!

I love this image. To me it does tell a story, and evokes a sound... the sound of lonely silence, but with the dull roar of a group of people far off in the distance. I think it's interesting how the tree is growing too, with sort of a dead stub sticking in the direction of the other trees, and a newer branch with life arching in the other direction, away from the mass of trees.

Haha... nice. The real skin against artificial, the useful hands compared to the lifeless, inanimate hands... and I like how the two sets of hands parallel each other.

I think this is a beautiful photo! The various textures throughout give it a harmonious feeling. The stones paving the street and making up the walls, the feathers of the chicken, the roof shingles... these patterns all echo each other in a comfortable, natural way. The lady walking and the curve in the road at the bottom left of the image lend life and movement to the piece. The chicken is punctuation.

Hi Alex,
Thanks for your comment! I think I agree - the angle has always bothered me a bit, so I like it as a straight shot better. As far as the cropping, I think I'm on the fence. I like how your crop really punctuates the texture, but I also kind of like the bit of sun on the street above in the original.
Late afternoon is such a great time of day to take photos.
