My big cost items are my cameras and lenses. I always keep both cameras with me at all times, and I use a Lowepro belt to keep the lenses on my person as well. Keep my fingers crossed for the remaining stuff in the bag.

I have the 5D as well: starting with the default standard setting, I lower the contrast and sharpenss a notch, and bump up the saturation. I'm still playing around with it, so this may change...

Hi NL,
I also use a 5D and 20D. For the formals and dance photos, I use a couple of SunPak flashes (set to manual mode) triggered wirelessly using the PocketWizards, and it works fine. Of course, I lose any ability to have my camera control the flash output...

I shoot everything digitally, and take LOTS of dupes, esp. during the formals. For a seven hour wedding, that would come close to 2,000 images, out of which I'll end up with around 400.

I would totally agree with you. If you have to move in close to the subject to get the white balance, then move further back to take the actual photos, the proportion of ambient light to flash light will increase when you move back, making the white balance reading inaccurate.

I use a similar set up (20D and 580 flash). One area where I always switch to manual is when doing the outdoor formals against a bright background and the couple is in the shade. AFter a couple times of having a burned out background when using Programmed mode, I now use Manual mode, which is slower but more reliable.

Hi Scott,
If you look at Scott Kelby's book "The Photoshop CS2 Book for Digital Photographers", the chapter title "Medium Format Frames" (pages 412 through 415) describe step by step how to achieve this effect (I don't think you need cs2 for this).
