Go here and download wxtide32 :
http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Horizon/1195/ It's a free worldwide tide program. I use it here in FL. all the time.

Many people prefer TD-3 from Photogapher's Formulary over Technidol. I believe that it also lets you rate the film at ISO 50. Tech pan is defintely on my to do list for the coming year. I used to shoot it many years ago and there's nothing else quite like it.

There are places that recoat telescope mirrors. Try asking in sci.astro.amateur .I seem to remember a P.J. Clausing Inc. that does it, but I don't have a URL.

I live in Vero. Some nearby locations are; Riverside Park
in Vero has a lot of waiding birds and pelicans that are used to
people. North on A1A is the Pelican Island NWR. Slightly north
of that is Sebastian Inlet State Park. There are always Storks
there and a lot of other birds grubbing fish from the fisherman.
The stretch of A1A just south of the park is great for sunsets
over the Indian River. Bring your insect repellent!
Have fun!

I have the above lens which I purchased used without a hood. It
has an unusually large 86mm. filter thread which limits my choices.
Does anyone know a good source for a hood for this lens? I've been
looking at my usual sources including some european ones without
any success.
TIA.

There is some discussion of this on the Russian camera
message board.
http://www0.delphi.com/kievreport/
On the newer prisms, with the 2 LED's, all you do is
loosen the 3 set-screws on the outer ring
and move it so
it agrees with a known good meter.

I recently picked up the Giottos MH-1000 and fitted it with a
Bogen/Manfrotto hex type quick release. For the money ($90 @
Adorama) I don't think you can beat it.

You can find an online manual here:

Go here for adapters:

I have the 3055 head and while I really like the
sturdiness of the hex plate release, the rest of the head is
problematic at best. The panorama action is so rough that you would
probably be better off with the new 3055S that deletes it. I also find
the release levers to be inferior to a simple knob.

I recently ordered a Giotto MH-1000 ballhead ( http://www.hpmarketingcorp.com/giottos_ballheads.html ) and
a Bogen 3296 hex type quick release adapter from Adorama for
around $130(US) total. Maybe that will stave off the urge
for an Arca for a while ;-)

I used to use Tech Pan in the early '70s with a developer called
H&W Control (I think?). Good god I loved this stuff. I still remember
looking through my "grain focuser" with Tech Pan in my enlarger
for the first time. There was NO grain!
Now that I have really good lenses and am getting bored with color,
I think that I'll get a tank and see how good my stuff really is.
Maybe I'll finally get those Ansel Adams type results with
medium format after all ;-)
