Thanks Tom for your suggestion. I tested with cropping but I preferred the landscape feel with the wider view. If I had a longer lens, or I could walk nearer to the scene (I took this from a train) I definitely would have taken some more closeup shots.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Didn't notice the cropped head while taking the photo but I agree it is very distracting. I thought the framing for this one was pretty perfect but then there is always something to learn.

The photo is taken with my lens at the long end of 210mm so could not have gone nearer. In any case, I felt the huts, trees in the back etc gives a better sense of the location.
Thanks Neville, Kallol and Nabarun.

Hi Mateusz,
I see your point about the frame. Specially after visiting your brilliant profile! A flat black frame might better for this photo. Will get around to it later. Thanks
-
Thanks for the comments. I am wondering whether the artifacts you see are not jpeg but due to my improper scanning of the slide. I think I may have kept the auto dust brush on and it removes a lot of fine texture.
Is the frame distracting or too fancy? Perhaps, should remove it. Thanks for the comments.

Cow dung being dried to be used as cooking fuel. I thought the scene
was nice in itself but the woman adds a touch of realism. Thanks for
your critiques and comments.

Thanks for your comments.

Fabrizio,
Thanks for your comments
You always lot of details and dynamic range while scanning slides, specially ones with very smooth and dark tones. Cannot really capture the analog shades of a sunset photo such as this. But thankfully the steps were bright enough for scanning and gives the perspective.

Banaras is usually bustling with pilgrims and tourists, but there a
quieter side too and perhaps with an equally enchanting appeal as in
this empty ghat during the evening. Thanks for your comments.

A garbage dump right inside the Purana Quila (Old Fort), New Delhi!
Probably should send this to Archeological Survey of India. I have
been to many cities around the world and never saw anything close to
this, inside a historic landmark. And they forbid you to use a tripod !!
Thanks for your comments.

Thanks everyone for your critiques. Found this pond during a hike on mountains near Oaxaca, Mexico. The place is called pueblos mancommunados, or the "people of the clouds" and I got a glimpse of why that is ! Great you liked the photo but the place in reality was out of the dreams and the photo cannot really capture it.

Thanks for you comment. The blue and white probably doesn't look good with the other tones in the photo. Should have been a bit more careful when framing the photo but these need to be taken really fast. And I don't really prefer to edit out particular things from an image using photoshop.

Excellently framed and the exposure is spot on. Almost looks like an HDR image (is it?).

An old sadhu smokes while a pup snuggles at his feet during a chilly
evening in Varanasi.
Thanks for your comments.

Thanks everyone for your encouraging comments. It was definitely surprising seeing so many of them sitting together. The dust and smoke of a typical Delhi afternoon gives the wonderful back light.
