The shot was taken from the top of the Matanga Hill at Hampi.Looking
down from the top of the hill, one can see in its immediate vicinity,
the ruins of the Hampi Bazaar on one side and that of the Achyutaraya
Temple on the other and beyond the immediate vicinity of the
hill, scattered over miles and miles of hilly, rugged terrain
interspersed here and there with lush-green rain-forests,ruins of
numerous temples,monolithic-statues,covered baths,aqueducts,bazaars
and palaces and one's thoughts inveriably turn philosophical as one
sadly ponders over the veracity of the philosophical axiom about the
pettiness, futility and transitoriness of all human achievements.

Does the phgotograph throw any new light on the intricate artistic
sensibility of the artisans of the Vijayanagara Empire?

Think of the statue carved out of a single piece of granite with the
help of only primitive tools like chisels and ordinary files and
hammers.
