1.
Anyone out here able to answer why the Panasonic GF1 is slow in recording low light photography data?

I have captured some fireworks show with my GF1 and the time it get process and save into the camera SD card is so much longer than those capture in normal lighting condition. Normally in daylight and flash photography the images get recorded in an instance where as in low light photography, like fireworks it takes more than a second to have the images to be recorded into the SD card. I use Sandisk Ultra latest SD cards.

  2. To gain wider DOF I prefer a shorter macro lens like the 60mm macro than the 100mm macro. In theory, the shorter the focal length the wider the DOF. So let say at f11, the 60mm will have a greater DOF than 100mm. A 2mm gain in DOF with a shoter lens makes a lot of difference in macro photography.

For me, I might also get the EFS.60mm macro to complement the EF100mm USM macro which I have. If I have not bought the 100mm macro, I might just get the EFS.60mm.

Deffraction is always a major problem with 1.6 crop camera, limiting the use of the small aperture.

  3. I have tried the EFS 17-55f2.8 during it debut in Kuala Lumpur recently and I found it well balance with the EOS 30D. It look and feel like a stretch EFS 10-22. However the people from Canon say it is a prototype and might not represent the actual production model. I have taken a few shot with it and it's seem OK.

I am also waiting for this lens which should be out by end of this month in Malaysia.

I would not connsider the EFS 17-85 f4-5.6IS as it is priced the same as the 17-40L. So I am also deciding whether to go for the 17-40L or the new EFS 17-55 f2.8 when it appear later this month.

  4. I got into this dilemma about 5 years ago and ended up with the Sigma 70-200 f2.8. I have used it from my EOS50E, EOS3 and now with my EOS20D. I am very happy with it even at wide open f2.8 at 200mm. for stage prize presentation ceremony. There is no in-compability problem even with the EOS5D which I tried out during their recent launch.

I managed to save the different to get myself the Canon USM 100mm macro!

  5. I just came back from a model shooting. After review the digital

images taken on the 20D, I relised that exposure varies slightly from

one images to another. I have set the camera aperture piority and on

motor drive. Studio lighting was used.

Have anyone here experience this on the EOS20D?

  6. Have anyone tested out the 60mm AFS micro lens on the smallest

aperture ie.f:16 onwards? I am seriously considering to purchase the

60mm micro over the Canon 100mm micro due to the small lens size and

shorter focal length. I have read that the Canon 100mm sharpness

deteriorate when set at f:16 and beyond. The 60mm AFS micro is a

purpose built lens for the EOS 20D, will it suffer the same

predicament as compare to a non EFS 100mm micro when set to f:16 and

    beyond?

Depth of Field is the utmost importance for micro photography as most

if not all my pictures on micro is set at f:16.
