Hi, Martin.
I am the Metz Product Manager at Bogen Imaging. The problem you are experiencing is common. Make sure the camera & flash are both turned on. Use the "Mode" button on the flash to scroll to the TTL mode. Depress the shutter on the camera halfway in order to send some information through the hotshoe to the flash. Now, once again hit the "Mode" button ONCE. You will notice that the "TTL" mode is blinking. While it is blinking, scroll the thumbwheel located on the side of the flash "upwards" or "counter-clockwise". You will see it go to E-TTL. If the above instructions due not prove fruitful there may be a problem with the flash.
Thank you for choosing METZ!

The Gossen Color Pro 3F is specifically designed for mearuing the photographic color temperature of flash and ambient light. Just press a button and the meter calculates out the filter values required to achieve photographs without color casts.
Good luck.

Take a look at the Gossen Digipro F. It's will be the most accurate and consistent and has been updated for digital. Check out the review on www.smartshooter.com - there's a comparison to some of the other meters mentioned.

Either the Metz 44 MZ-2, or the 34 CS-2 from Metz would both be good options for you. The 44 MZ-2 has interchangeable modules, so if you decide to upgrade to an M6 TTL or an M7 you could still use this flash. The 34 CS-2 comes with a sync cord already (something you would need to add to the 44 MZ-2). You can find full specs on Bogen's website www.bogenimaging.us. Good luck.

Have a look at the ePhotomaker from Lastolite. It meets all the criteria you mention in your post.

Leo,
It sounds like the attachment is not engaging the pin on the face of the meter which tells the meter an attachment is in use. It sounds like you have a good attachment and a good meter, but the switch by the metering cell (pin) is not engaging properly. You should have this looked at by whomever you deal with for your Gossen products. In the U.S., it is Bogen Imaging in Ramsey, NJ.

METZ 60 SERIES BATTERYPACK
in Lighting Equipment
Posted
The 60 series power pack (and the 402 packs before them) are designed with the professional in mind, and as such is able to withstand some punishment. Like anything else, they can sometimes break.
To replace the case would run about $99 each. This includes the parts and labor to gut the broken pack and put it's electronics into the new case. Turn-around time can vary depending on what comes in for repair, but is usually around 8-10 business days.
With all repairs, Bogen does not charge for return shipping.
I've also spoken with Metz Technical Dept. in Germany directly and they responded that, "all the flash units of our flash line are manufactured according a high quality standard allowing use in harsh situations andprofessional range. Although, sometimes any trouble could be happen asmentioned by you."
