<p>I print DVD and Blu Ray discs on an Epson R-280. I use white printable discs. It works very well. </p>

<p>I recently purchased the Quantum flash system. I bought two Trio, two Turbo 2x2 batteries and a Pilot. This system uses built-in wireless radios. It eliminates the need for wireless triggers like Pocket Wizards. Quantum flashes are more powerful than Nikon or Canon flashes. It permits high speed shutter with FP sync. I also purchased Quantum octagon soft boxes, Manfrotto light stands, and Quantum mini and mid size soft boxes. The Pilot and Trio allow wireless TTL for off camera lighting.<br>
I also purchased a Sekonic L-358 for use in manual flash modes. This system is not inexpensive but I'm very happy with it. For me it solved the powerful light and portability combination. </p>

<p>Consider the cost of ink only. These costs are for Luster paper. With both printers it's less expensive to print 4x6 at a lab. 8x10 and larger is less expensive to use the Epson.<br>
Here's the 2880<br>
4x6 = $0.21<br>
5x7 = $0.30<br>
8x10 = $0.70<br>
11x14 = $1.34<br>
13x19 = $2.15<br>
<strong><br /></strong><br>
Here's the 3880<br>
4x6 = $0.14<br>
5x7 = $0.21<br>
8x10 = $0.48<br>
11 x14 =$0.93<br>
13x19 = $1.48</p>

<p>I use the 3800 and Lion. I profile the ACD monitors and printer with an X-Rite ColorMunki Photo. I highly recommend it. My prints are as close to the monitor as it gets.</p>

<p>Yes on a Nikon, Flash Value Lock FV will eliminate blinking.</p>

Bernard,
I received your email asking for help. I wrote back but the return email failed
twice, so I hope you find this post. Please let me know if you do.
I sold the D200 and WT-3a to buy the D300 so I don't have it here to confirm
this, but I'll do my best from memory. Use PTP and PC mode for the set-up
utility. Use Ad Hoc mode. I think everything else was at defaults. Start off
with no security set such as WEP and no password. After the setup and
disconnecting the USB, I'm assuming you know how to go into the cameras menu
and select the wireless transmitter and select the new network. On the Mac Book
if you have a symbol on the top menu bar for wireless signal, click it and
select the network you named in the camera. It may take a minute for the
notebook to recognize the new network. Sometimes at home it took a few minutes
because it had to disconnect from the Airport Extreme first. On location there
are usually no open networks so it finds it a little quicker. If that fails
click the symbol for wireless networks and choose Join Other Network. It will
search for the camera. Try one other thing. In the Apple symbol on the top left
of your desktop select Location and then Automatic. Let me know if it works,

I'm using the D200, WT-3A, Mac Book Pro combo.
It works well. If you have questions email me at

It may be out of your price range, but who knows but you.
Check out the Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 micro VR.
It's new and not easy to find, but with VR it's an outstnding lens.
It's also professional quality, so if/when you upgrade your camera this lens will still be the best.

Reset SB-800
from manual
Press the Mode and On/off buttons simultaneously for
approx. 2 sec. to reset all settings, including the custom
settings (except the distance unit selected in m/ft) to
their default values.

17-55 f2/8 is also a very good choice, wider pick 12-24 f/4 DX
-
I have a 17-55f2.8 DX, 12-24 f/4 DX, 105 f2.8 macro, and 70-200 f/2.8VR all Nikkor.
The 17-55 DX is an excellant for scenery, as is the wider `12-24 DX.
For macro I'm very happy with the 105
Of course only the 105 is prime, but my favorite is the 17-55

Quote from 70-200 VR owner's maunal on page 18.
When the lens is mounted on a tripod, set the vibration reduction ON/OFF switch to OFF. However, set the switch to ON when using a tripod without securing the tripod head, or when using a monopod.

The other thing to consider is the SB-800 and 600 have different menus. Having to remember setup with two different menus can be frustrating.

Sorry it's regular table slat and pepper

If you're shooting without a flash, you may also want to preset white balance. Try an Expodisc instead fo a gray card. Are you usng film or digital?

Good answer Jim. I was about to post a similar response, but you said it better. To optimize CLS use more SB-800's or SB-600's

try Penn Camera in D.C.

I don't have any help for your lens, but you can add a rider to your homeowner's policy to cover camera equipment and accidents like this. It's cheap adn worth it.

I agree, you can switch the SC-29 illuminator from hot shoe to flash and see the exposure difference. When the flash is on a bracket and 18" above the lens the SC-29 is better. Try it you'll see the difference.
-
I don't think it's the SC-29, unless it is defective, mine has no delay. What if you mount the flash to the hot shoe, does that make a difference.
Dumping flash need feedback please
