  1. Obviously, everyone here will recommend the 70-200 L f/4 lens over any

other telephoto lens for image quality and cost ($650). However, I do

not want to walk around with a white lens (I'm not a professional, nor

do I want people to think that I am.) I own a Canon 20D and just

recently purchased the Tamron 28-75 SP DI f/2.8 lens. This is the

only lens that I own. I had the 75-300 IS and the 18-55 kit lens, but

have sold both. For this range, are there any other lens you would

recommend, either inside the Canon family of lens or not?

  2. Is this a good combo? I am a newbie and don't want to spend a lot

of money. However, I do want versatility and bang for the buck

performance. Would you recommend the 85 1.8 over the 50 1.8? Are

there any 3rd partys equivalent lens as the ones mentioned with same

quality but cheaper? I own the 20D.

  3. Just thought I'd get some opinions on these 3 types of lenses.

Bearing cost and quality of pics in mind, how would you rank these 3

    lens brands? (i.e. Canon 24-70 f2.8 L vs Tamron 28-75 XR DI f2.8 and

sigma's version for example) Canon is more costly, does that equate

to better quality or does it depend on the lens comparison? Thanks

    in advance.

  4. I guess you are right, there is not just one lens that will do it all. I like photos of family and friends and I would like the ability to get real up close and personal (i.e. drops of rain in a puddle or bugs) I guess telephoto is out, although important, I would rather spend my money on a quality lens vs the 75-300
  5. I have the Canon 20D with the 18-55 kit. I also have the 75-300 IS

USM lens. I really want to obtain great photos (at least what $600

could get me). I am willing to get rid of the 75-300 and the 18-55

lens and upgrade to one "L" series lens. What would you recommend as

a great everyday "L" series lens that would suit many different types

    of shots?
