  1. Nice - it reminds me of ruins in Ireland.

When composing a shot, I try to NOT put the subject in the center of the frame. Perhaps the background did not allow, but the sky looks interesting and if the image were framed with more sky and the subject to the side, it would be a more successful image.

On a photo excursion in Ireland with John Eagle, he told to us to shoot so that each shot should be made with the idea that it is the last exposure you can make - whether it is the last frame on a roll of film, or that the battery is nearly dead, or whatever - before pressing the shutter release, walk around and look at the subject from different views. This is valuable advice when in a location you may never shoot again and I think it applies here.

  2. The image was taken with Kodak HIE-135 IR film on a sunny spring

afternoon, using a Pentax KE, Sigma 28-80 3.5 zoom, #25 red filter. I

probably shot at 200 ASA, with as small an aperture as possible for

the shutter speed. The negative was scanned and retouched (minimally)

    with PS 7.

Many thanks for any and all constructive critiques.

  3. I also shoot cemeteries. I would have taken this photo, but possibly a different angle (lower).

When shooting in cemeteries, I always make certain to avoid any markers that identify the location because many cemeteries are actually private (you may know this, may not), and that can sometimes dictate the angle I must shoot. Perhaps you had a similar situation.

I like the exposure - really good and even. I particularly was impressed to see the odd crackling on the face when I saw the image large. I am interested in seeing more of your work!
