You're right, I am nose against that wall. I am unable to reassign the scratch disk to my other drive.. quite possibly a
formatting issue but we're getting into unknown territory for me.
Thanks Brooks.. good to know.

Etched it is! Thanks TM.. erasing the photoshop prefs did the trick. I am now able to access photoshop. Still unable to
reassign the scratch disk to my other internal hard drive so a full scratch disk remains an issue but glad to have PS back.
Thanks again!

nope.. I'm out of town with my laptop.. don't have install disk with me..

After getting a message saying "scratch disk is full", I checked out Photoshop Help - assigning scratch disks and thought I'd attempt it:
a) under Photoshop CS preferences thought I was "reassigning scratch disks" as follows: 1. 320GbSeagate (additional internal hard
drive), 2. MacIntosh HD, 3. LaCie (external hard drive), 4. none
b) shut down computer and when I restarted, I went into administrator/utilities/disk utilities and did a verification and disk repair.
c) tried opening up Photoshop CS and got the window: "could not initialize Photoshop because the disk is not available"
So now I'm unable to access Photoshop CS. Can anybody help?

I'm in the process of being hiring by a pharmaceutical ad agency (which I refer to as X Company) to
photograph patients with a rare disease for a pharmaceutical company's brochure as well as further
uses down the road. I've agree to unlimited use in perpetuity but told the art director I would like to
retain copyright. He agreed. I've been asked to sign this contract.. seems to me I'm being asked to
agree to an total buyout and then accept any legal responsibility that may arise with regard to any
liability that may arise regarding how the images might be used now or in the future. Have I got this
wrong?
CONTRACT:
Assignment: While X Company, Inc. is acting for the benefit of its client, it is expressly understood and
agreed that this Purchase Order constitutes a contract solely between X Company and you
(photographer). You are acting as an independent contractor and the work you submit is specially
commissioned for inclusion in advertising and/or promotion materials. You hereby sell, transfer,
license and assign all ownership and copyright rights and privileges to the above named client of X
Company, without limitation or reservation, unless otherwise provided in body of Purchase Order and
agreed to by X Company. X Company and its client shall have the right to use, copyright, reproduce,
publish or display the material furnished hereunder in any manner.
Seller assumes all responsibility and liability for any and all claims for violation or infringement or
alleged violation or infringement of any copyright, patent or trademark or of any civil rights of third
parties, or otherwise, arising from the use of such material and agrees to defend, indemnify and hold
harmless X Company and the aforementioned client, their directors, officers, agents and employees
from and against any and all claims, actions, liabilities, losses and expenses, including reasonable
attorneys? fees, arising out of any actual or claimed infringement.
The Seller warrants that in the manufacture of the materials mentioned herein, all of the laws,
rules and regulations, relative to the manufacture thereof, have been complied with and that the prices
charged therefore comply in all respects with the laws, rules and regulations relating thereto.
In the event that photographs, films, illustrations or other materials are furnished to the Seller by
X Company or its client in connection with this order, such material must be returned uninjured. The
Seller agrees to compensate X Company in case of injury to such material.
Note to Photographers: All necessary model releases, property and accessories releases must be
furnished to X Company before or with submission of your invoice. Any expense for which
reimbursement is sought must be listed on the invoice. Said expenses must be substantiated, except
for taxi or subway fares and gratuities, by (a) a subcontractor?s invoice and/or vouchers and (b) a photo
lab packing slip for film and processing.
Thanks,
Cher

thanks TM.. back home and I removed a bunch of stuff off the Macintosh HD and was finally able to get the file open. Time
for an additional drive methinks. Really appreciate all your help.
Christina.. sorry for the confusion.. the internal hard drive is on my G5 at home. I have an external LaCie I use with both
the G5 and my laptop. The scratch disk problem was occurring on both computers.. I guess my file size was just too big.
I'm creating a photo collage with about 62 images and some text.. file size is 1.4Gb. Live and learn. Again, thanks all!
