Light coming from outside through the viewfinder in Canon EOS Mount Posted February 13, 2006 Hello I recently acquire 2 days ago an EOS 5D camera.I do a lot of long exposures, sometimes during daylight, from 1 to 20 minutes.Previously I don't have this problem with my 20D, I knowthat was a known problem with ancient film cameras, so I'm surprised and a little bit disappointed at this time. You'll find here 2 shots (EXIF info are in) taken a the samemoment (buld mode 180 seconds, with a ND400 filter). The 44 is as is, you see a lot of banding and light zoning:http://www.denisolivier.com/img/misc/img_0044.jpg The 46 is taken with my scarp around the body to preventoutside light coming through the viewfinder.http://www.denisolivier.com/img/misc/img_0046.jpg I repeat this many times to be sure from different locations,I always have this problem. My lens is a Canon 16-35 f/2.8 L zoom. Is this a known "problem" coming with the specific 5D design?I searched the net and don't find anything at this time. Thank you for you attention, and advices, if any. Denis Olivier.

Hello
I recently acquire 2 days ago an EOS 5D camera.
I do a lot of long exposures, sometimes during daylight, from 1 to 20
minutes.
Previously I don't have this problem with my 20D, I know
that was a known problem with ancient film cameras, so I'm surprised
and a little bit disappointed at this time.
You'll find here 2 shots (EXIF info are in) taken a the same
moment (buld mode 180 seconds, with a ND400 filter).
The 44 is as is, you see a lot of banding and light zoning:

The 46 is taken with my scarp around the body to prevent
outside light coming through the viewfinder.

I repeat this many times to be sure from different locations,
I always have this problem. My lens is a Canon 16-35 f/2.8 L zoom.
Is this a known "problem" coming with the specific 5D design?
I searched the net and don't find anything at this time.
Thank you for you attention, and advices, if any.
