1.
I opened my camera bag yesterday, and found the joystick button sitting by itself at the bottom of the bag. It won't stay on very well when I pushed it on. It is now being retained by a handy peice of gaffer's tape. Has this happened to anyone else? Does the button lock down with a amll plastic hook, that may have chipped off? Suggestions on getting a new button?

  2. Don't know much about Ocho, but I visit Negril and other western towns every year for the last 18. Dragging my backpack with DSLR and equipment (about 25 pounds)around, usually always walking by myself, and have never really felt threatened. People try to sell me dope and other stuff, but you will find that once you are a known quantity to the locals, they don't hassle much. Always tell them you have been coming for years, when asked. I know you had a bad time, but I just want to say that that is not the Jamaica that i have known for almost two decades. But, YMMV, Mon.
  3. I had the same issue as you. Here is my system: I bought some very small eyehooks and screwed them into the wall at the ceiling corner. To them I tied some monofilament fishing line, with a small, colorful bead tied on the bottom (optional). I tie paper clips onto the lines where I want to hang a picture. I then take my prints, mounted on foam core, and duct tape them onto the line over the paperclips, which gives the tape something to grab onto. I did a wall of my office like this, and can periodically exchange the old prints for new. The clips are essential to keeping the prints attached to the mono.
  4. I have photoshop, but use it only for some more sophisticated stuff. I find Nikon Capture to be very user friendly, and does most processing very well. I'd pay for Capture again.
  5. My experience is that different scanners have different strenghts. I use both an Acer 2740 and a Canon 4000. The Acer eats slides all day long, but negatives require a lot more fuss to attain the poper exposure and color balance. The Acer has software profiles for different film types.

I'm less happy with the canon for slides (dark), but it swallows negatives gladly withour having to specify a film type. YMMV.
