Excellent capture Tim...luck or no luck! Thanks for your recent comments on my Hummingbirds. I don't do HDR but I do use PS to enhance my images. Some would say I use "too much" manipulation...I say it's the results that count when dealing with perception of images. What else truly matters? Regards, Ken

Thanks Jan, I'm useing an old (not compatible with digital) Micro Nikkor 1:28 lens. I have to manually focus and meter. If I get too close I narrow my depth of field too much....so I try to keep some distince (1 to 2 feet rather than inches) with as small an aperature as possible, which results in a slow shutter speed. Fortunatly these guys are slow movers......So with a relativly slow shutter speed I try to use a mini tripod. Regards, Ken

Hi David, I've taken shots similar to this and they are very hard to pull off. It's all too easy to capture a "pile of leaves". I'm not sure what makes it art and what doesn't, but this photo is art. Excellent DOF choice and nicely composed. Regards, Ken

Your birds are exemplary in every way! I use natural light and a macro lens for my Hummingbirds....at a distance of about 2'. It's very difficult and not as rewarding. After viewing your stunning portfolio I think I'll invest in high speed flash. Regards, Ken
