1.
Good luck with your storage, Trevor. If you are fond of your particular film gear and can afford not to sell it, I think it is sensible to store it and hang onto it (for years if necessary). Many photographers have regretted selling their film cameras and ended up having to buy them back again when they got sick of digital.

  2.
There are electric dry cabinets pretty readily available for not much money which seem to do the job very well. A readout dial in the door makes it easy to keep the humidity at a constant level (eg 40%). I bought one in Australia, so they are bound to be even easier to find in the US. For example, have a look at www.totech.com. B&H probably sell such things too.

  3. Hello - I have recently acquired a Horseman 5x4 monorail view camera. It is in terrific

condition but for one small problem. Any ideas on how to solve this would be very much

appreciated. Alternatively, if anyone knows where I might get hold of an appropriate

Horseman repair manual I would be extremely grateful!

Basically, the problem is that one of the swing control locking levers (indicated with green

dot in attached photo) does not lock. I have never done any repairs on such a camera

before, but feel sure that this problem could be easily solved if only I could pull apart the

lever mechanism. Having done a bit of disassembly already, it looks like I need to get into

it from below, but I think I first need to remove the other locking knob (indicated with a

red dot). It is not clear to me how I can do this. I am guessing that I may need to pry off

the cap on the end of that knob (blue dot), but it appears to be glued on and prying it off

would probably break it (perhaps this is what a Horseman repairer would normally do and

then just replace it with a new plastic cap?).

Any ideas on how I might sort this problem out - or at least remove the other locking

knob (red dot) - would be very gratefully received!

    Many thanks.
00CMth-23825884.jpg.ab2ce0f9aa64a5a88f295cca5840c5d0.jpg
