  1. Yes I say WOW to all comments :)

whether it is made by aluminum alloy or stainless steel,

today I heard more about structure and build condition of Medalist,

now I agree that It is not for DIYer.

anyway I'll try to find 'excelhands' mechanic around here.

or maybe I'll respool 120 film to 620 spool :(

thanks again and may the God bless classic camera buffs!

  2. yey, thanks for comments!

I've heard that Kodak Medalist is almost only RF system that provide 6x8 MF images and worth to pay under 150$. I also saw some results of Medalist II, and it makes me to enthused especially at wide open and around f5.6.

    oops solid stainless steel?

then motorized hand drill might not work :(

MR. [or Ms.] nguyen, I'm very pleased to waiting.

please let me know your know-how,

so that I can show them to any mechanic around here.

thanks for all comments and happy shooting!

  3. hello everyone!

I've got recommended about Kodak Medalist.

so I've searched many articles about Medalist and 120 film respooling.

now what I know is :

    - film sizes are same at 620 and 120

    - but 620 spool have smaller round ends and short length,

    - so 120 film does not fits directly.

    to solve this problem,

    I may modify film chamber,

    re-spool 120 film,

    or just use 620 film.

found recently I am really not good at re-spooling.

all of them got light leak. :(

so I've considered about film chamber MOD,

but unfortunately I cannot find MOD shop cause I'm outside US.

I've heard that Kodak Medalist has strong and sturdy alloy die-casting body.

now I wonder can I slightly drill out flim chamber with motored hand drill.

is this possible? anyone have idea?

    all comments are welcomed!

  4. hello everyone!

I've searching a TLR on e?ay with crank-loading system or equivalent

one with double-exposure prevent system such as Ricoh Diacord.

so I found Ricoh Diacord, Yashica 124[124G] have crank or

    double-exposure prevent system.

anyone got any idea please suggest other ones.

    thanks!

  5. hi. recently I got a Jupiter-9 85mm f2,

    and trying to find hood.

    what I found are:

    nikon HN-31, HN-23, HS-10

    Canon BT-72.

I wonder about any vignetting occurs if I use them in my J9.

    thanks and happy holiday season!

[first, I should find out exact filter size..

    many versions, different sizes]

  6. thanks georg, you made me clear. :)

thanks peter, now I cannot figure out what is correct! :)

but I cannot find 'what are you REALLY after' [?!].

[i am Korean- sorry for my POOR english!]

in South Korea, MD 28-85 is very popular lense and I can grab a seconded-handed one around 110USD. but AF28-85 is around 50USD, so I wondered why so-called-same-optics lenses got different prices.

thanks everybody and happy holiday season!

  7. happy holiday everyone!

I run a Mamiya press 23 with standard 100mm lense and 6x7 filmback.

but, you know, addicted more in big negs/slides..

so I am looking at a neat 6x9 foldings,

    it should have:

    -double exposure prevention

    -built-in rangefinder [coupled or uncoupled]

    -not so expensive-under $100

-might be happier with famous and faster lense.

    I think I should get a moskva 5,

which got coupled rangefinder and DEP,

but I think I should get suggestions from other big neg fans. :)

thanks for your time and any comments welcomed!

  8. greetings.

I've handled my MPS23 with good care, and it has been a wonderful

    workhorse.

recently I found its RF moves very slowly whenever I turn lense's

focusing ring from 1m to infinity. from infinity to 1m is quickly moving.

    [though its accuracy is wonderful.]

anyone else experienced this situation? can I ever fix it?

please allow me any comments about it,

and please keep in mind that I have dull hands :(

    thanks! :D

  9. greetings.

I think I should be out of my old selenium meter,

cause It cannot reliable in low-light sotuation.

I run old workhorse 'Mamiya press super 23',

and need a accurate light meter

what can be read easily in low-light situation.

my friend told me Polaris meter is affordable item.

all I want to get is to meter incident, reflective light correctly,

    especially in low light situation

[not completely dark, but low light as can be found in small pub].

but I should wonder cause my budget is tight.

I cannot afford meter IV, V or VI.

    - I found that there are 'polaris 2' 'polaris flash' and 'polaris

5[dual?]'. I wonder what is different from '2' and 'flash'.

    - if I get 'polaris flash', what can it be compared to models of

Minolta or sekonic? a 308 or Meter 3?

please tell me pros, cons, or anything about polaris light meter.

    thanks!

    thanks.

  10. greetings.

days ago I posted some questions, got wonderful answers and rushing

for my lovely system. but I've searched some sites, and found no one

sells 645/6x9 back for my mamiya press super 23.

now I wonder can I attach 645/6x9 backs of other systems to my mamiya

    super 23 with some accessories.

If it is possible, please tell me what systems' backs fit to my system

and what accessory do I need.

    thanks and any comments welcomed!

  11. hmm, I think 70-210 f4 is better.

yes, 100-200 is cheap and well made lense. but 6-feet minimum distance was big a problem to me, especially to get close-up focus.

70-210 f4 is rather long, heavy and expensive, but its quality is wonderful at all focal length. you may hardly discover at this close minimum distance among other telephoto zoom lenses. at minimum distance with wide open, you may get wonderful bokeh also.

  12. greetings.

thanks to kind comments on this board, I finally got Mamiya super 23

with 6x7 filmback and 100mm f3.5 lense. I am very excited to fire some

shutters with my new RF :)

but there is no manual, so I cannot find what I should do to

investigate this system is in working condition.

someone told me I should repair foam seal in filmback, or adjusting

rangefinder but I don't know whatwhere to start.

so please tell me what I should do BEFORE run a roll of film.

and can I get 6x9 filmback for this? someone told me that I can use

6x9 filmback for Graflex 23 on my Mamiya 23. is this correct?

thanks and any comments welcomed! :D

  13. greetings.

this probably be a newbie's question,

but please don't ignore and let me listen a part of your experience.

days ago I had to small groups at short distance. I've shoot some

rolls with minolta 7xi, 5400xi, AF24-85, omni diffuser made by plastic.

but I disappointed very much as soon as looking at prints. they looks

just as straight dumb flashlight - too bright center, too dark

corners, cast their faces shadows and so on -.

when I shoot at daylight sychronized flash what I usually do, they

given wonderful results with P mode[for joke, it may be Professional

mode :)]. but in this situation I don't know what should I do.

it was my friend's first concert in big men's choir, and both of us

are disappointed. I cannot forget his face when he looking at failed

    prints. :(

please tell me what I need and how to shoot when I am in these situation:

    - in small room, colored walls and ceiling, nowhere to make bounced light

    - in large hall, surrounded by crowdy area, only 3 feet to model, have

    to use wide angle lense.

please tell me what accessory I need, and tips to get better quality.

my gear is as above, and I really want to find how to get better.

    Any comments welcomed!

p.s. I just purchased a ballon type diffuser shaped like a small and

    white pillow. does it works?
