Todd,
If you're looking for like-minded individuals to discuss Olympus digital cameras, I'd recommend that you subscribe to the "Zuikoholics Anonymous" -- aka the Olympus Users Mailing List.
the URL is http://www.zuikoholic.com
I've belonged to this list for at least 5 years because of my 25 years of using the OM SLR system. What I can tell you is that at least a dozen of the long standing members have purchased the E-1 (with the OM lens adapter) and are regularly posting their impressions, experiences and photos taken with their new digital SLRs.
This group does wander off-topic frequently, but the noise level isn't intolerable by any means.
Check it out.

I bought an Agfa Record II 6x9 w/105mm Apotar 4.5 this past summer and couldn't be happier with it.
If you're willing to stretch your budget to ~$125 to $150, I'd strongly recommend that you contact Jurgen Kreckel at http://www.certo6.com
I bought my 6x9 from him, and he specializes in taking old 6x6 and 6x9 folders, stripping them down to the bare frame, and rebuilding them from the frame back up. He usually has Agfa Record II & III's, Frankas, Voigtlander Bessas, and also Zeiss Iktonas. When he refurbished a Record II for me, I asked that install a new red leather bellows -- it's really sweet.
He guarantees that the camera you purchase from him will work as described or he'll fix or replaced it at no charge for a time after you purchase it (I'm not sure how long - 30 or 60 days?).
You can also check for his auctions on Ebay -- his seller ID is certo6
I have no formal affiliation with Jurgen, I'm just a very satisfied customer.

To be more clear, I guess I shouldn't have stated different features that don't really matter to me.
Of the features/functionality that I am interested in, both meters appear to be identical -- the problem is, there are very few real photo retailers in my town, and I've not been able to examine both side-by-side.
I'm sure that the Sekonic 508 is wonderful, but the Sekonic L-308 and the Polaris are the only two I'm considering due to my limited budget. Would someone that has had hands-on experience with both meters offer their perspective on which they prefer?
Thanks,
Craig

I am down to the two meters mentioned in the subject due to my budget
(~$180). I've worked once with each meter in a lighting class, but not
enough to be able to determine the differences between them (other
than their appearance).
Specs on both flash meters are almost identicle, except the following:
Cine Speeds 8 ~ 128fps on the Sekonic; none on the Polaris --
(if Cine Speeds are for video/motion pictures, I don't need 'em)
Multiple Flash Scale for calculating 2-9 flashes - Polaris;
none on the Sekonic L-308
Exp Comp Adjust. +0.9EV - -0.9 (in 1/10 stop increments) Polaris;
none on the Sekonic L-308
Other than that, the Polaris is a little bigger and weighs a half
ounce more. If anyone has experiences with either of the above (or
even better - both of them), please share them and help clear my
indecision.
Thanks,
- Craig
Anyone have experience using the Holga 35 AFX 35mm Camera?
in Extreme, Retro, Instant and More
Posted
I've had a Holga 120 S from Randy at Holgamods for a while now, and
although I've gotten some pretty good results with it, I really have
no desire to process film myself anymore. Most of the local labs no
longer process 120 film, and I've found that Freestyle Photo is now
advertising a Holga made camera that actually shoots 35mm.
Does anyone have any user experience with the Holga 35 AFX camera? I
want the same type of images (vignetting, soft corners, etc.) I get
from my Holga 120, so anyone that could share their experience with
the 35 AFX would be great.
Here's a link to the camera I'm referring to:
