The photo is well taken. But after that, it went totally wrong. This is a good example of the new wave in photography of the last 1-2 years in which (digital) sharpness has been pushed over the top. I do not like the unnatural, digital sharpness of the image at all. It leads away from the man the photo is trying to convey and there is no way to know him through this picture after all the photoshopping that occurred. This picture forms a total block to the human being portrayed. What we see is a picture, not the man. It's like listening to music: with some speakers you hear music, with others you hear speakers.
