  1. For weeks i've been away from computers, and naturally, away from the Minolta forum's... and after "all this time" i see the same topic in the top 5 topic's!...

We (most of us at least) enjoy old cameras, god knows why, but we still use them. Dynax's, Srt's, Xg's, X series... anyone of us with it's "pride and joy" from the "good old film days". Those of us, who have comitted fully to digital... well... don't mind us, if we trully enjoy photography, we'll turn our ways to the digital way. Meanwhile, please, let us enjoy our film cameras (no matter the age). That can't be to hard, can it?

  2. Hello to all.

Been away for some time, but i back with more questions about minolta

    (old school) gear.

How does the Minolta Auto 118x Flash works. I have no idea of how they

work. Ok, the batteries go in... and then what?

    Thanks,

    RWallace

  3. The dynax60/maxxum70 is a lightweight body, with pretty much everything you could ask for in a entry level slr, and for the price i've got it i couldn't (even looking hard) find something more in budget. 285Eur for the body, the 28-100mm lens and the minolta bag. Within the same price range i could only find Minolta maxxum 5 but since the 70 was a later model i got it instead the 5.

    To check out the results:

The used camera (and lens) is identified on the right of each photo.

    Hope that this helps.

  4. Need help in 3 particular things:

    1) How do i repair a stuck light meter?

    2) How do i clean the mirror (has foam stuck to it)?

    3) Since the mirror is rather durty and the light meter stuck, i'll

probably need to replace the foam. How is that done? And were can i

get foam to do the reparing?

Once again my thanks for your help,

    RWallace

  5. I have one of those too :) Don't have any prints or negatives developed with it, still testing my (also) new panagor 28mm ;)

Also have to get the srt303 light meter working, seems to be stuck. My guess is the foam since the battery is fine (besides the mirror also has some foam on it, the foam must need replacing).

    Enjoy your new lens ;)

  6. Hello everybody!

I asked for the lenses in my previous post, but with the panagor 28mm

    came also a 50mm f1.4 and a srt303.

The srt303 has a very interesting DOF preview, has no MLU as recon

some of them had, but there is something that i don't now what it is.

The DOF is on the right side, and on the left there is some sort of a

swich bellow the "plug" of the "remote" cable. What is it?

    Thanks,

    RWallace

  7. Well, after all i have now 3 lenses two 50mm, f1.4 and f1.7 and the panagor 28mm f2.5.

As far as i know the panagor is a rebadged lenses, and is quite heavy for it's size.

Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and for your pacience with a "young" Minoltian,

  8. Hello again.

    I'm trying to build my manual focus lens line-up. I've got a 50mm f1.7

Minolta and a Panagor 28mm f2.5 so far, what would you people advice

me to get as a zoom lenses? Brand and range? Something that could be

used as a "all-terrain" sort of thing (or a combination of lenses to

"get the job" done). I've looked at the 70-210mm Minolta lens since I

already heard some good things about that one, but I'd like to have

the opinion of those who have the experience.

    Thanks for all the help,

    RWallace

  9. This is all very nice. And I must say that the main fealing i got was pleasant (as visible in my early post). After all we are talking about Sony, the one that has the sensor technology... though, someone got a completly opposite chain of thought.

    Check it for your self's

    http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1021&message=14300853

If, Thom Hogan is correct on this statement... this could be the begining of the end for, not for Konica Minolta, but for Minolta the camera manufacteurer.

That cold and methodic way of seing things from Thom Hogan made me think: Could that be the future for our beloved Minolta? To perish at the hands of Sony? :(

  10. It is easier to split costs. With this "join venture" the good thing i see is some sort of KM dedicated Sony sensors, the KM lenses will have some incresead development and KM can/will have a more visible image (everybody knows that sony sells well because of there marketing) to the consumer. No more we will here "Oh... it's (just) a minolta" when people look at our cameras.

Though, there is one particular issue that KM has, that i've never seen in a Sony camera: Naturally ergonomic cameras. I've said this before, but no camera fits the hand like a KM and has all the controls in the right places. I really do hope that KM doesn't change in this field.

  11. Well, this is how it goes:

Someone around here told me once that the srt's were somehow

addictive. While looking in ebay for a md 70-210mm or a 28-70 from

minolta i crossed my eyes with a srt303, with lens (50mm f1.4), strap

and leather case. Shame on me! I couldn't resist it!

By the way, does anyone have any black body srt? I'd like to know

where/how can i get the "cosmetics" repared? My 101b has a ding in

prism, nothing serious, it's just nasty looking thing.

    Thanks,

    RWallace

  12. I'll get one. The 7D is more expensive, and as an amateur, i don't actually "need" such a camera. The 5D seems a better option.

The 5D is going to be a backup of my dynax60, and "replace" my digital camera (which is not a dSLR).

  13. To be honest I couldn't care less about the "gloating". I came to own a Minolta by accident... and enjoyed it very much. Learned a lot with it and I'm still learning. Bought another one (a MF) and enjoyed even more! Now, if nothing goes wrong, i'll buy the 5D to have at least one Minolta from every particular era (within my life, that is): MF film, AF film and digital. Someone wants to gloat? Fine! Gloat away!

Cheers (for the new baby dynax),

    RWallace
