Patrick
I understand how to de-spot multiple photos in LR. How do you batch process in PS3?

The Hitachi Microdrive will eventually disappoint you. The largest useful CF card for the D70s is 4G. I have two Sandisk III 4G cards that each give me 636 images in the NEF+Basic mode.

Thanks to all who responded. I reformatted a 160G Western Digital USB 2 HD on my mac as Fat 32 and am copying the DVDs to it on a DELL pentium 4 machine. The final test will be the burning of the new DVDs in my Mac. I believe that your advice solved the problem. Thanks

I just spent three weeks in Barcelona and came home with 10 DVDs of photos
burned on my hosts PC. I tried to copy the files to my Mac Book Pro and my G4
Mac with no success. About 10% of the files in NEF format from my D200 and D70s
will not copy to either Mac. My IBM Thinkpad will read all the files.
I am searching for a workaround to be able to read these files on my Mac, where
I do my Photoshop and Lightroom.

Paulo,
I too have a Nikon D70s converted for IR. Your photos are wonderful and have a unique quality. I have admired your IR work for a while. Keep up the good work.

Patrick, your list is good, but Ellis is correct with the best single volume for the money. If you don't have it, check it out.

Sony has the best picture quality and fewest repairs in first three years. I just got a 40" Sony Bravia 1080p from B&H Photo. You can even hook your computer up to the TV or use Apple TV wireless.

Does the print head "park" with the power on? I know that on the lower level Epsons the
heads do "park" when the power button is pushed off. Parking the heads slows the drying
and clogging.

I have one on a D200, great lens. Go for it.

I have an IBM ThinkPad running XP laptop at work and an Apple Macbook Pro at home. Everything Matt Laur said is true. Windows needs more maintenace than OS X. Neither of the machines are prone to lock-up or crashes I favor my Mac but windows is adequate. Go shopping and try both machines and see what you like best.

I store my actions in a separate actions folder in my documents. As you upgrade your PS
you hang on to your atns. I have been doing this since PS 7.

Get "the Art of Bird Photography" by Arthur Morris. After reading Artie's book you will want a
500 mm or 600 mm lens. You might try a used Version 1 to save some bucks.

The same thing happened to me with a 18-70 purchased with a D70s on Photo.net classified
with no warranty. I paid $135.00 to have mine fixed. My 18-70 did exactly the same thing
as yours. Most of the advice above is to the point. I chimed-in to give you a real world price
paid for repair.

There are stories of non-Nikon flash units frying Nikon Digital cameras. You can purchase a
"safe sync" adapter made by Wein. These are for sale through B&H and cost around $50. This
will protect your camera's electronics from being damaged by voltage that the flash
generates. You might want to do some more research.
Cheers

In page set-up select manual roll for the appropriate paper size. Remember those extra
parts that you didn't know what to do with? Might be the rear paper feed. Get out the
manual and read it.

There is also info on printing with Lightroom and OSX 10.5

One other question; how large are the picture files? Should be reduced to no more 800 pixels X 800 pixels at 72dpi

Do a software Update to make sure you have the latest iDVD. Try starting up holding down the command key and S key. then when the scrolling stops type in fsck(space)-f and hit return. If the list later shows some changes or corrections run it again, until it shows no changes or corrections. All lower case and don't forget the space or the dash.
Hope this helps

All of the above advice is very good. One more thing. Make sure he has at least 20% free space on his HD.

Check out this link: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5862672
I found it by googling "Epson printing with 10.5"
Shocking isn't it.

Canon or Epson printers are both good. Epson printers must be shut down properly to prevent clogs. That is; turn off by pushing the power button and let the printer park the heads. Do Not just switch off the power at the power strip. My R2400 is 18 months old and I print once every two weeks at most. No problems as of yet. As always, read your manual!
