1.
@Brad - Thank you for pointing this out to me. I have not used this feature. I did however export a few for to look at. Matte Paper with Standard and High Sharpening and the way I originally exported them. Yes, they are sharper. But it still should not have received prints where the faces in the crowd are smears with no distinct features. All is well though. They are reprinting for me. The customer service is excellent as far as I can tell.
@Allen - I just wanted to see if it was just me. I have contacted customer service and actually Brad did help me with a feature in LR.

  2.
@Brad - The export quality is set to 100. I did not compress them. I shot most with my Nikon D700 and did not compress them for upload other than making them jpeg's instead of RAW. Mpix listed that they could be printed up to 20x30 I believe in the little dialogue box. I got 4x6 for a photo album instead of friends standing around the computer monitor. I have a pic from Istanbul. They faces in the crowd are smeared. On my monitor I can make out the face clearly without going to 1:1. What gives?
@Tim - I do not actually have Photoshop. I used to use a local lab. I worked up my photos in LR and exported to a folder for upload. No problem. I did the same thing for Mpix. What I got and what I sent do not look the same. Just wondering if its something on my end. By the way, I have contacted Mpix Customer Service.

  3.
I just received my prints back from Mpix. I uploaded them to the website blah blah. I made the mistake of clicking color correct. I am not happy with a few. I did all of my corrections in LR 3 and should have left well enough alone. I looked at a few of the prints and they just don't look sharp even at 4x6. I checked them 1:1 on my monitor and they look sharp. Is something lost on Mpix's end? Has anyone else noticed this? I must admit, these are the e-surface prints.

  4.
It's a local shop here in Washington DC called Pro Photo. They have been around for years. They repaired my Pentax for me when I was in high school about 20 years ago. It still works. I think they will stand behind their work. The Hassy offer is starting to look a little open ended as to cost.

  5.
Ok, here is the question. I dropped off my A12 back at a local shop for repair because it has uneven spacing of frames. I called back after a few days and I'm told it will cost $166 to repair it. Hasselblad USA says on its site that they will do that for $99 and you can send in another back for $15 more at the same time. Anyone tried this Check to Spec that Hassy is offering? What's the turnaround time? Thanks.

Wow! Thanks for the opinion. It just gets hard to justify all the camera expenditures. I got a Hasselblad last month. A vintage black Nikon SP and new Nikon S3 with vintage 28mm, 35mm and 50mm f1.4 Millenium lenses in the past 8 months. I also pushed for 2 weeks in Istanbul and Italy in October. I think I may have finally hit the wall where it's getting old for her. But, I'll keep it in mind. All I can is thanks for the laugh.
Yep, I plan to use my AIS lenses on mine as well as my AF lenses. Gotta love the 50mm f1.2 at full frame. I didn't appreciate it as much in crop as a 75mm lens. And I don't do video. I'll use a video camera for that.
I think the D700 is a fine camera. I used one in the local camera shop yesterday. I like the way it feels and how the images looked. The only thing that will bother me is if it drops $300 bucks the week after I buy it. The features are something I can live with for a few years. Yes, I plan to have it or something atleast one month prior to vacation to learn the ins and outs of it.
Presently I have a Nikon D200 for digital. I mostly shoot with my Leica M6. My plan was take my M6 with 3 or 4 lenses to Istanbul and Bologna, Italy. The cost of Kodak Portra 400NC with processing and scanning are what made me rethink upgrading my D200. I can spend around $200 for film and X hundred dollars for hi res scanning to DVD's or I can put that towards a new D700.

  7.
I am tempted to wait. But a green light is a green light. Not sure if I can afford to wait. The D300 is out. I have a D200 and I hate happing a cropped sensor. The D700 is the way to go for me. I can live with a 12 meg camera for quite awhile. My enlargements are almost never over 8x10. I aslo come from film. I crop when I shoot the image with my feet (step back or step forward). So, I really don't need the large meg camera for cropping. The high ISO and full frame are what I require. It will come in handy when I take photos inside and can't use flash. I'm just wanted to know are there any big Photokina like shows coming up where Nikon may make an announcement.

  8.
I'm looking to buy a Nikon D700. I have been on some of the rumour sites and some say a replacement is coming down the pike so hold off on buying a D700. I would like to buy a D700 to take on vacation in October. The problem is my wife has given me the green light to buy one now. If I wait till October to buy she may change her mind. We may have all been through this. I just don't want to buy the D700 today and the price drops $300 next week and the new model comes out. Are their any upcoming photography events that Nikon may announce the D700 replacement?

  9.
I bought a Hasselblad 500 C/M. I would like to buy another A12 back for it. The 500CM has the chrome trim. Will the backs without the chrome trim fit onto the camera? I figured I would ask before I bought one. Thanks.

  10.
Congrats on the M3 and Elmar. I just picked up the same Elmar you have last week in Leica Screw Mount. Mine is from 1958. It has no fungus, haze on scratches on the front or rear element. I can't wait to finish the roll of film to see what it produces. And yes, I agree the changing of the aperture is a bit tricky. I just hold the focus tab in place when to keep the focus locked and then change the aperture. I use mine on an M6.

  11.
My other camera bags are Domkes. I thought I would give the Mekko a chance. I have read good things about them. I will post back here when I get it with my impression of the quality. I hope I'm not disappointed.

  12.
I just bought one of these bags. I'm trying to decide between khaki and black. I know how dark the sand is for Domke. But, I'm having a hard time with the Mekko khaki because every picture I see has flash. Is it about the same as the Domke sand color? Thanks.

My one fast lens for my M6 is a Voigtlander 40mm f1.4. I like it. Although it's not the optimal length for shooting Jazz shows.
Before I had a Leica. Dare I mention the name, I used a Contax G1 for my concert shots. I would use every lens I had at a show from the 28mm to the 45mm to the 90mm. Here is one of my favorites I grabbed with the 90mm.
<a href=" img065Copy

Entire set <a href=" Flickr Search

Eventually I will pick up a 90mm for my Leica. It will have to wait though. I'm perfectly happy shooting with the 50mm as my longest lens at the moment.

  14.
I have the option to buy a Summicron. The serial is for 1975. My question is there any difference optically (contrast and sharpness) between the summicrons from 1975 and one made in the 1990's. This one is optically perfect with no paint chips. I currently have a Hexanon 50mm f2. I know photodo says the summicron is slightly sharper wide open. And what would be a fair price? I havent had time to look through ebay on previous closed auctions and match serials. Too time consuming.

  15.
Tis done.
I used the Washington Monument as the infinity point. I just had to turn the screw ever so slightly to get it to match up. I then checked both my Konica 50mm and the Zeiss 35mm. They match at infinity.
As James Brown said, "I feel good!"
Thank you for everyones help on my little dilemma.
