I jumped out of the car and grabbed this one after seeing the horses
finally sit still on a foggy morning. I saw the shaddow of the pole
(bottm left) but didn't want to miss the shot by moving around.
While I still like the photo, I feel I somehow missed the moment.
Too critical?

I like HIE portraits and this is an excellent example. Very well done.

I looked at this, and others you've posted. You have a very unique documentary/photojournalist style. Something I've never managed to master. Expand on this gift! Very nice all around.

I don't work with children that often, and generally just fire off a
bunch of shots hoping to get a good one. During this session, that's
what I did but particularly liked the lighting. Anyone comments from
others that shoot children would be appreciated.

Ah! Perfect! The original was good, the modification even better!

Conceptually I like this one. I understand the need to keep the melon the same tone as the skin, but I wonder how a ring light would have done on this. The side lights are a bit destracting as is the minor tilt of the melon. Overall, an excellent photograph!

Brilliant! Nothing more to say

Bruce,
I think ignoring such rules is appropriate when the drama of the main subject is central to the photograph. In this case, the lighting on the building in contrast to the flood waters allows it to be centered. I did the highly technical cropping technics of a)using the slide bars to crop using the edge of my browser, and b)holding my hands over the screen. Leave it like it is, especially after viewing it larger.

Very nice use of light Kristupa. A little different lighting for fashion work, but it works extremely well. Great job!

Yes, there are many wonderful photographs of this horrific image. But I like the composition and strength of this one. Nevermind the neysayers, you were there, you had the vision, that's what matters. Very well done.

This photograph tells more than technic, equipment, etc. In rating this photograph for technical issues, I wished there was a selection for "What does it matter?" A very moving photograph, my highest compliments and equivalent condolences.

Besides this folder, it's well worth the effort to look at the rest of Rainer's public images. His work is not only pleasing, but inspiring. As always, nice work Rainer!

I happen to like this myself. It works a little better for me cropped from the bottom to just below the circular area in the middle, but a good shot none the less. Good lighting and subject that captures Viet Nam (IMO anyway). Those tilting horizons can be a pain, but it's not that bad in this shot. I like it! Nice job.

Outstanding! I wish I could see a little more of the people milling about in the back seemingly uninterested, but great none the less.
