1.
Thanks guys, that's the conclusion I've been coming to as well. I see your point Ed - the reason I"m thinking of introducing this is because with the way the economy's headed, I'm getting a lot of couples that would love to order an album, but can't afford the $700 leather ones that I offer - and have asked for cheaper alternatives. So it seams to me it would be better to collect $300-$400 rather than nothing at all.
2.
Hi guys,
I am thinking of offering the Adorama photobooks to my wedding clients as an entry level option. I"ve ordered a sample and I love their quality - the pages are real photographic paper, the images are sharp and have great color. They also offer very nice imagewrap style covers - overall, I think the quality is definitely there. My question is what would you charge the client for these?
Adorama sells the 8x8 26 page book for around $33. So that gives me a pretty good margin, but I still have to factor in time for layout of the album...
I was thinking of charging $300? Is this too much? too little? what do you guys think? Please also remember that this would be for the couple on a budget that can't otherwise afford the $700 flushmount leather album.

Thanks for the input!

 3.
Hello All,
I have recently started shooting weddings (I am primarily a fashion photographer, and have been shooting fashion for about 3 years now, but due to a lot of recent requests from freinds/family, have found myseld shooting weddings and enjoying quite a bit, so as a result I am slowly getting into this new market and building up a wedding portfolio.) My current equipment setup is woefully out of date and I have been saving up to upgrade. I currently shoot a 20d (yeah, i know, don't worry i've borrowed backup cameras for the weddings, so i had my ass somewhat covered) and my leses consist of a canon 24-105 and a fast 1.8f 50 prime
I'm obviously salivating over the new 5d mark II, but the price tag is pretty damn steep.... so i can either splurge on the camera and not buy any glass, or get the old 5d or new 50d(being the cheepest option) and get some glass...
If i get the 5d, i will be ok on the wide angle end with my current 24-105, and just get a zoom, however if i get the 50d, i will most likely be looking to get a wide angle becuase of the crop from the sensor size in addition to the zoom. So i pretty much have 3 options:

5d Mark II, and keep renting lenses as i need them, with the 20d as backup

old 5d, and a new zoom telephoto

50d, a wide angle, and a prime telephoto.

I am trying to keep this all under $2600, and i have not yet delved into lenses, i'm just thinking in terms of coverage, what i see mylself needing...
As far as flash goes, i've been renting so far and haven't run into problems... they are pretty cheap to rent for the day ($20 at my local rental shop) compared to buying one outright... so i think i will stick to that for now.
Any advice??

Thanks!
4.
Hi Chris,
I live in the city and would be interested. I am a fashion photographer but have done several events and engagement shoots, so if you're looking for the creative shots i think i could fit that bill nicely. I'm trying to expand my wedding experience so this would be a good opportunity for me as well. Your budget is fine by me, feel free to email me to discuss details. You can take a look at my engagement photo site (www.envphoto.com) and my fashion photogrpahy work (www.nataliyacole.com). Hope that helps!
5.
Hi All,
I've (sort of) narrowed it down to these four: Art Leather, Photobookpress, AlbumCrafter, or Visionart. Any thoughts?
Also, has anyone had any experience with PhotoBookPress ? From what i see on their website, their books look really beautiful and I love the cover options they offer - very elegant in my opinion.
I love the look of matte inkjet prints and thinner pages - more like a fine art book rather than the really bulky, thick, glossy albums that seem to be popular.
So right now I'm leaning more towards either AlbumCrafter's Giclee line or VisionArt . Which has better print quality? Their prices are comparable when you factor in that AlbumCrafters has so many options for their covers - silk, leather, etc.
With ArtLeather , I am looking at either the Montage Art Book or the Art Magazine styles (under the flushmount section). It seems like the only difference is the page thickness, both are the thinner than the typical styles, with the Art Magazine being the thinnest. Has anyone seen these in person? I don't want bulky, however I also do not want it to be cheap or flimsy looking/feeling. Do they offer matte prints? Anyone know? Also, what about the rumors of their poor customer service? is this still the case? what has been your experience?
Thanks so much for all of your help!
