I looked at this photo for a number of moments with a feeling of it being very foreshortened. So I looked up and found that this was shot at 270mm which would more than explain it! I really like the tones in the flower, and the softness in the leaf below, with the slight glimmer from the water on the leaf. Well seen.

    The Look

I love it! My only suggestion would be to add a blur to the hair at the upper left. It seems a bit awkward that area is tack sharp with no other hair appearing sharp.

IMO, I'm not sure of the circumstances you shot this image, but I think it would be a lot stronger, had the point of focus been on this young woman's eyes. From what I can see, the focal point is her nose, with a shallow depth of field. It seems her beautiful brown eyes are a bit out of focus. Other than that, the colors in her scarf and other details of her face are very nice.

The color and detail appear nice in this shot. IMO, I think this shot could be made stronger with a little more sky area to give the monuments more head space, and less forground, as the pattern of foliage is random throughout. This would also help the image from appearing cut off through the center where the forground scene and the background come together. Still a breathtaking sight.

Found this interesting inset in a doorway on a recent trip up north.

Would love to know your thoughts. Thanks for your time and for

    stopping in!

To be honest, I originally was of the opinion that the redness in his nose should have had some touchup work, then as I ventured to the rest of the image, I noticed his story, in a way, through the markings and injuries to his hands. I suppose the insert photo is to show a more "normal" headshot view for comparison? Either way you're technical effor seems spot on. Thanks for sharing.

IMO, the skin tones, coloring and exposure are nice, though I'm not sure I'm particularly fond of the distracting background or the framing/crop of this young lady's face.
  1. This year I decided to do something a little different from an

ordinary Valentine's Day card. I decided I would use my camera. I

ended up brainstorming this during work one morning in late January

and decided I would try it out one my lunch break when I headed home

that day. This is what came of it. I ended up printing, framing and

adding a little V-day flair to it, and gave it to my fiance when we

celebrated the holiday. He loved it. - Shot with a bag of candy, a

big piece of foam board, and a small LED flash light. Used a 40d with

70-200mm @ f2.8 Would like to know your thoughts on it if you have a

    moment, thanks!
