That could also be helpful to get the nice soft look to waterfalls or a stream. I use a strong ND like you have, at the beach too when I need to slow down the exposure.

Only have used Program setting a couple of times. Manual about 65%, Av 20%, Tv 10% and Bulb 5%.

I have the older version of Lightroom, so maybe these statements won't be accurate. Lightroom is excellent for Raw conversion, organizing and saturation and tonal adjustments. My version doesn't allow for working in layers and doesn't have many of the tools I use frequently in PS like: layers, selection tools, Clone stamp, Eraser tool and many manipulation tools, of which many of them are included in Elements too. Lightroom is a very nice program and for what I do, I feel I need both as they are very different tools.

Thanks Kuryan, for the info about the Singh-Ray filter. I'll have to look into that one.

Yeah, I usually do compose the shot first and then put on the filter, but will often try different compositions and usually don't take the filter off each time. I could, but I just cover to block out the light as much as possible so I can see.

I have a 9 stop threaded ND filter that I use for daytime long exposures. The only problem with that is that it's extremely hard to see through the viewfinder to compose the shot because it's so dark. You almost need a cover over your head and camera to see.

John,
I own one of these lenses and love it. I used it with a 10D and now with a 5D and it seems well balanced to me
and very sharp.

Here are a couple of photos taken with it: Example 1, <a

Thanks all for your thoughts. BW, I will try that what you suggested and hopefully that'll help!

I noticed recently that the focus ring on my Canon EF100-400 seems a little sticky when I try to "fine tune"
my focus using manual focus. It's not bad, but seems a little hard to make minute adjustments. Has
anyone else experienced this or know what the cause might be? Maybe it's always been like that and is
normal but I never noticed because I usually use Auto focus. Thanks for your help!

Best
