This is one of four photographs exhibited at the Seattle Erotic Arts

Festival 2004. This photo in particular has often been compared

to the work of Georgia O'Keeffe.

I did a bit of research on the web after reading your comment. You are right, it's not a Yellowjacket but I think it's too big for a Hover Fly.
The Wood Rose is approx 3" across, so this guy was about 1" (2.54 cm) end to end, my research on the web found that they are 3/8"-5/8" (1-1.5 cm).
It looks like a Hover Fly though if it is one, it's a giant!

This is my first submission of a photo for critique. I lookforward to some good constructive feedback.
