it is a nonsense shot - what are all these 7/7 lol? I don't even think the sunset (actual sun and red sky) belongs to the rest of the background (steeple etc). And the birds look ridiculous - sharp birds in the distance in *front* of an out of focus foreground? Come on guys!
  1. Trying to do something more 'arty' - whatever that means. I thought

the water creates an interesting texture with the boat exactly in the

centre - which breaks a few rules regarding composition - let me know

    what you think.

  2. It doesn't really look right to me - I think the exposure and the composition are off sorry.

The exposure may be tricky as it looks like the water is in full sun and you are also trying to record the dense foliage in shadow which will be beyond the latitude of your medium to capture. The water is just to bright and has 'blown out' to completely white in many areas and lost its detail. I think the exposure and composition would benefit from having the water more prominent in the frame if possible - also you may have to wait for more even light (eg morning or evening or overcast).

Just my opinion. The composition with the foliage taking up most of the frame might be possible but I don't think its quite worked in this shot.

I don't think the out of focus foreground works - its too much of a distraction to me. I think a bit of cropping helps a bit - see my example below where i cropped the top green bushy edge and got rid of the out of focus foreground (only a hasty effort) - i think it improves it a bit. I also added a little saturation for good luck :)

nice shot - probably the only little suggestion I have is I'd like to see more or none of the brances and seats on the right edge - otherwise nice composure and exposure.
  3. Just got my D2X the night before and headed out in the morning to a

billabong to test it out. I took a few photos of these ducks sitting

at the edge but then decided to walk towards them to make them take

off to try and get a more interesting shot. I'm still getting use to

this camera but I'm finding it a joy to use - this shot looks really

good printed out at A3! Please let me know what you think.

I just read an article on using repetition in a photo magazine I

bought and saw this opportunity when getting of a tour boat at

Katherine Gorge in the Northern Territory of Australia. Please let

    me know what you think.

The original is a colour photo and the canoes are bright yellow - it

didn't look that good to me until I played with some settings in

photoshop to make it B&W. I just missed the guy looking up at the

incoming canoe with a smoke in his mouth.

I didnt know what category to put this in...

    Book Cover?

This is an Australian Saltwater Crocodile shot at a park - just

interested in whether people think it would make a good shot for a

    book cover? Any suggestions appreciated.

I like it - the expanse of greys broken by the broken by the horizon and the stark boat appeal to me. Nice peaceful photo. One thing that keeps catching my eye is that the horizon seems to dip towards the left but not much.
