1. Mary's contribution is GOLD!

I went to Walmart and purchased the specific corningware cap she recommended and it fit like a GLOVE!

I also purchased the 16oz size with the cap marked "v-16-pc" and "F-16-PC" and it fits over the front element with the hood reversed.

  2. The first lens I purchased was the 55-100 and it's still what I use the most.

If you are asking about hand-held shots and weight I would say that makes a pretty good argument for the single 55-100 lens over multiple fixed lenses.

That being said, a 67II with a 55-100 is neither small nor light. The filter diameter is 95mm which makes that a PRICEY polarizer.

If this is the "You're on a desert island and you only get..." question then I would go with the 55-100.

    Just my $.02

  3. I have had this lens for about 2 years and have taken it with me

wherever I've taken my LowePro Nature Trekker. It is long, it's

certainly lighter than my 600f4, it balances OK and is used

    infrequently.

Regarding sharpness, what it lacks is made up for by the negative

size. Two words - MIRROR LOCKUP

  4. I agree with Ed that a Pentax 6x7 digital solution would be the best

of both worlds, but given the fact that they pulled the plug on their

    6MP camera, I think it's a pipe dream.
Regarding mural sized prints

from digital, Kodak can already achieve this with their DCS ProBack

which you can slap on the back of a Hasselblad.

  5. As digital continues to improve - Canon D60, Kodak 760, Nikon D100, how long until digital quality eclipses 6x7?
It seems that the future of digital is based around 35mm bodies.
Ideas, comments, general musings?
  6. I have found the quick focus ring to be a valuable tool when used

with the 135 macro and any sort of extension- be it tubes or the

bellows. It is indeed a hassle to pack but it really comes down to

personal preference. The things are so cheap on eBay what do you

    really have to lose?

  7. Instead of purchasing another flash that only works with one system,

why not go the Metz route?

This way the flash you buy for the Pentax can also be used on your

    Nikon with an inexpensive module/adapter.

I had the same problem - Pentax/Contax/Canon. Much money was saved

and I didn't have to learn the nuances of three different flash

    systems.

  8. I just got back from a trip to Colorado and used Shewmakers when I was in the Springs. They were "ify" about getting me back 6 rolls of 220 E6 in 5 hours, but when I came back they were all ready and had been cut and put into archival pages for me! Perhaps my standards are too low - I usually get things back uncut and in glassines. I was impressed by Shewmakers' quality and turnaround.
  9. I'm a new Gitzo/Bogen dealer and just got my first shipment of the new MK2 variety of the 1228. The issue of the twist lock being so small has been negated as the new ones are nearly twice as wide. The grooved center column with hook is a nice addition allowing you to hang your bag off the tripod for additional stability. As an aside, I also got in the Bogen 3443 which is identical in length to the 1228, a little less stable, but comes with a strap for under $400 - and if you can't stand the Gitzo leg locks no matter how wide, the Bogen leg clamps might be a better choice.
