This may be a dumb question but, Are you printing on the same paper that your using in the printer profile? I was having a similar problem. I bought some Epson paper, used the profile for that paper and my probelms went away. I was printing on some HP premium Glossy Paper, didn't look good. The Epson paper, amazing!

WOW, thats a lot of info, Thanks Alan.

Thank you VERY much, just what I was looking for!

Thanks Mike, I don't plan on removing the files from my EHD, I just want to get the files to a DVD, in cause something was to happen to my PC.

I'm using a Windows PC (Vista Home Premium) I have all my photos stored on an
external Hard Drive. I would like to back all of them DVD's. What is the most
efficent way to do this. Also if anyone with experience can give me some what
not to do's that would be great!

It sure did. I went and picked up some Epson Ultra Premium Photo paper and the print out was amazing.
I'm using a HP w2408 24" monitor. I tried to print out a photo on some HP Glossy paper, it didn't turn out bad, it just was missing something, but the same pic on the Epson paper was flawless! I never realized how important the paper profile was.

Steve,
I found a bunch of useful info at the Epson website. They have an article labeled "Printing with Photoshop and Windows." It might help, I have to wait to get home before I can attempt any of the info. I update my success/failure later tonight.

I'm having a similar problem with similar equipment. If anyone out there is willing to take this on please let me know what information I need to supply to get on the right track. Thanks. Don't mean to hijack your thread Steve, but maybe we can both get help on this!

Eric and Bill. Thank you very much!

Thanks Patrick. I have the M. Eveing book, its a nice book.
I may not have posted my question properly. I'm looking for testimonials from members of NAPP. I'm curious if they are happy with their choice in joining, and if the benefits are worth , in their opinion, the money.
-
I recently picked up a copy of "Photoshop User Magazine" I was impressed, a ton
of information and they had a section dedicated to Lightroom, which I thought
was kinda cool. I was just wondering if there is any members of NAPP on
Photo.net? I don't mind going to Barns & Noble to pick up an issue each month,
but in the mag. there is ads to join the NAPP and list all the member benefits
ie. discounts, seminars, magazine subscription ect. If anyone is a member is
the $99 a year worth the money? Any pros and cons? Are the discounts legit?
Thanks to all.

Sorry Bob, I misunderstood, in regards to you actual question, Not possible as far as I know.

Right click on the triangle that opens the side panel. Select manual. Will only open when you click on the triangle.

Edward,
I'm using this style for my file naming:
"20070808-lighthouse-0001.jpg"
Seems to be working so far. All my photos are stored in a file named "Digital Photography" and all the subfolders in that file are by the year the pics were taken. I just recently went to this format (last couple of days) before I had all my photos all over the place, not really organized, I was depending on Picasa to organize for me. When I made any changes to a file in Lightroom it created a new folder in Picasa and it was driving me crazy. Thats why I'm giving up on Picasa. Thanks for your input. My apologies go out to Christopher for taking over this thread with my own questions. Thanks everyone.

Yeah, makes lots of sense. Going to mess with it more tonight. Thanks for all the advice.

I'm doing the re-import to add Metedata, rename files and get rid of some that I don't need. Thats only the real reason I've been doing the re-import. Now, if I don't need to do that, thats great. I know I can rename the files (F2) and add metedata so I guess I have been wasting time. Thanks.
I'm relocating to one file and then in that file I have all my subfolders. When I first started with my external hard drive I had no idea what I was doing, now that I do, know what I'm doing that is, I'm moving everything to this one file (Digital Photography). Do I just need to do a drag and drop and then have Lightroom find the files? If thats the case all the editing will be saved?
-
I was doing the same thing (only with Picasa not iphoto) Did some research on-line and then some playing around with Lightroom. I found that you can Import from file and then change the settings to Move to new location and import. Great feature. I have the same question you do though. If the file is already in Lightroom, I haven't been able to relocate the file to my new location (promps that image is already in lightroom import cancelled) I've only been able to remove the files from Lightroom and then import them to my new location. So if there is a tiop or trick out there in order to keep all my edits send that info my way. Thanks!
-
Again, thanks Josh, looks like Picasas days are numbered.
-
Thanks Josh. I'm currently using windows. Do you know if using Lightroom to do all importing and organizing will effect the performance of the program? Too much info or work overload??
-
I've just purchased CS3 extended, and I'm axiously awaiting its arrival in the
mail (just 2 days to go!) My question is this. As of right now I'm using Picasa
to import my photos onto my harddrive. (I like this program because my wife
finds it very easy to use to view photos of our daughter. I too, like its
organizational features.) I then bring the photos I need to edit into
lightroom. Will Adobe Bridge replace picasa for me? What is the main purpose of
this program. I've never seen it in action. Any info would be great. Feel free
to rip me apart if this makes no sence. Thanks

BRAVO! Well said and so true.

I agree 100% with Benjamin.
Scott Kelbys books are not only a fun read, they are VERY informative. Probably the best photography books I've read. Also agree with the iTunes. Photoshop User Tv is fantastic!
